I've sat in the gallery beside Studio 3 when the Six One was going out live and Anne Cassin came in during every ad break and a good few times during reports and sports news.

And by the way Eileen just told us that they'd be back at 4pm at the last minute I guess that was just a news flash that turned into a full bulletin as it went on.

A story must have broken in the middle or something - look at the way Eileen and the others are crammed in at one end and then the huge gap between them and Charlie. It woiuldn't happen on a scripted show.

A very good evening,

first the headlines presented by Ken Hammond (2:00) followed by a

magnificently beginning weather forecast with Evelyn Cusack (0:15)!

No, this news broke at about 1240 in the afternoon...A few minutes later at 1245 RTE broke into programmes to announce the statement. Eileen was quite good that afternoon.

Not the first time that's happened. I remember one from about eight or nine years ago (I think) with Dr. Aidan Nulty. He began by staring at the camera. After about 10 seconds, he reached over, got his clicker, along with some other bits and bobs, then took a few deep breaths. Altogether, about 25 seconds past before he actually began the bulletin.

Today was Budget Day
The RTE special was as usual broadcast on both RTE One and on RTE Two [showing coverage of the opposition reactions while RTE One has analysis]

The studio was rather large, didn't see very much of it to be honest. Nice to see some caps or videos?

It would be a nice idea if they presented the Six-One from the Budget studio just to add a bit more to it, rather then back in the main studio...just to make it seem special.

There's a Prime Time special on the Budget tonight, so maybe that will be in the Budget studio. I did get a glimpse of the titles this afternoon, they used the RTÉ News music.

At least one Irish newspaper (the Indo), in its radio listings, referred to it as the "Chancellor's" budget speech, of course in Ireland it is the Minister for Finance.

Why does all the graphics on RTE seem to look the same...same effects, same fonts...all the same. They must lack in creativity...perhaps its a good thing that they didnt get a LCD screen on the main News...they wouldn't have much to show on it

It's called maintaining a corporate identity for all news programmes. BBC, ITV, Channel 4, five, Sky, CNN et al all do the same.

No its not even with that.
What i mean is when they put up a graphic, such as one saying bullet points of the budget, the fonts, the pictures, the animation effects...the whole thing looks excatly the same...as if they use one template and use it for everything.
At least some places would use a particular colour or effect for one topic and then move onto something else and have it abit differnt.
I just always found RTE used the same stuff over and over when it comes to graphics...there has never been anything spectacular by them
