I'm ashamed to say she has a southern irish accent. This is a great day for RTÉ where they can get another terrible presenter into the Nuacht slot. As if the ascendency of Dublin 4's omnipitent ostentatious opinion of the Irish language weren't obvious enough, they put this 'lost sheep' infront of the cameras and behind that desk for 'the news for oirish people, royshe'.

I'm sick of this. The Government make great strides to ensure the preservation and support of the Irish language, and as soon as it becomes a recognised working language of the European Union, RTÉ make every effort to make it look incompetent - cutting down the time slots, making the set look frumpy and unprepared and making hideous mistakes and then putting an ugly 'blonde' onscreen. I can't wait for TG4's independence... it'll be no surprise that after about 2 months after the April 'freedom date', RTÉ will almost completely obliterate the Nuacht.

Feckin semi-states.

cutting down the time slots,

Ok what the crap are you talking about.

Nuacht has been around the 10 min mark since way before EU recognition. No cutting of time slot since then

They do that to the news in English as well.No great plot against Irish just against all news in whatever language

Commenting on their broadcasting skills is one thing ,can we lay off the personal attacks on their appearance

Hello

Does anyone has an idea who's Eibhlín de Paor and what she's doing at the Cinnlínte Nuachta?

You can watch the whole Cinnlínte here (2:16 long)

How do you pronounce Eibhlín de Paor's name? I am quite sure you don't pronounce it "Ebb-lean de pah-ore"

Meanwhile, Niall O'Carroll get's his days mixed up...

News with Signing sounded a bit strange but I didn't make a big problem of it - I thought that because Siún was absent in the studio some accidental person presented that bulletin. On vision Eileen (hope I can write it this way..., Irishmen?) sounded terrible. She reminded me Brid Og Ni Bhuachalla with the famous ending smile. I think Sharon would be the better person to present it.

Don't make a case of Niall's cock-up - it's not technical though Wink even Eileen Dunne could make a mistake like that.

And the thing that really makes me nervous - the Cinnlinte Nuachta are almost always included in the source file of the One News - why the webteam can't make a webpage with links to the bulletins (look at my link which I've compiled) it's so easy to do and so important to be present on the website (I'm learning Irish and subtitled news are very important for me to compare the ortography to pronounciation).

A very good evening.

I was wondering about this: if a person who is presenting English news suddenly started presenting Irish news and not returning to English bulletins, does that mean a demotion in RTE terms?

Anne Cassin has said on the One News that Siun Nic Gearailt will present the "cinnline" Nuachta :/...

No comment Very Happy

BTW: Does anyone know what time the RTE News: Headlines are broadcasted? I wonder if I can find at least a piece of them from other RTE programmes (File > Clip properties > Clip source... in RealPlayer Wink )

The daytime summaries are aired in-between programmes. On October 31st, they were broadcast about five minutes before these times:
10:55am
11:45am
3:00pm
4:30pm

With the late summary at about 12:05am (Wednesday morning)

I don't have a copy of the current RTÉ Guide, so I'm not sure about this week. But if you can get a copy of it at all, it will tell you. Mind you, they're not featured prominently, just mentioned in brackets after the programme title. That's why I can't provide exact times.

Found a website that'll tell you when they're on, so you don't have to bother with the RTÉ Guide. Have a look here, complete the search, and you'll find the details you need within the programme synopsis.

What happened at the end of tonight's Weather on the 9? The lights cut before the end of the forecast - did something blow, mistime the cuing of when the broadcast would finish, or did someone in Montrose forget to put 50p in the meter?

Scroll to 1:55

I saw that, it was pretty bad alright. Maybe they've realised that lots of people are complaining about the overly bright lighting in many broadcasts (Seoige & O'Shea et al) and this was their way of fixing it Rolling Eyes Notice how Evelyn doesn't bother with the cities - makes sense when you think about it. The chart's too dark, and they probably just wanted to get off air as quickly as possible. But for that theory to work, there would have to be a manual override of the set amount of time given to forecasts, which doesn't seem to exist as proven here (Scroll to 1:56).

Interestingly, France was plunged into darkness the other day due to power failures with the French power company called RTE Shocked

Anyway, it was an unusual one to say the least...
