"Protestant community" does not equal marching and to suggest otherwise would show a serious lack of judgement.

The "Protestant Community" doesn't equal marching, however it would have been line with the report and so wouldn't set out to depict that. The dog, however, wasn't in line with what was shown beforehand, or what was to follow. I'm not trying to suggest that RTÉ were inferring anything by that clip, I'm just suggesting that it probably wouldn't have been included at that particular time if the package was examined and produced with more effort.

Nice green mic cover from RTE at the talks in St Andrews - framed nicely among a mix of DUP politicians in monochrome suits and booms on a BBC Newsline report this evening.

Seems like Richard Hawley's lollipop seen earlier this year is not an one-off.

I think you'll find in the world of News editing, things are often done very last minute. Infact it's common the reports are still being edited seconds before transmission.

If your lucky you'll get rushes less than an hour before it happens, although chances are it's often late Very Happy

It's a fair point. That may very well have been the case. Smile

A quick note on News on Two (I think) the other night - they ran a story on a bird which is rarely seen on these shores who has shown up in the north-west. The OTS graphic? Paul Hunter, whose death was the previous story. The problem was rectified after a few seconds.

Meanwhile, a funny moment at the end of Seoige & O'Shea today, not of RTÉ's making. Johnny Logan was the last guest. Here's the dialogue which ended the show:

Gráinne: (on tomorrow's programme) ....we want to know if marraige is better the second time round.
[Johnny's hand can be seen waving into the shot]
Joe: Thanks very much
Gráinne: Bye!
Joe: Goodbye.
[The Tyrone Productions closing VT appears]
Johnny: Oh, it's released on the twenty....

As the RTÉ end board popped up, mysterious voices could be heard very quitely. Unusual.

S&O'S fly through topics. Today they had just started talking about Friday 13th (no other chat shows have ever done thet before) with a "witch" and an author when the titles started to run accross the bottom of the screen. They didn't even talk to the author...

Hello,
Regarding the Friday 13th - Nuacht na inniu Wink - Scroll to 9:32

EDIT:
Bridog said "Good evening" at the opening of the Cinnlinte Nuachta after the One News - Scroll to 22:30. Correct me if it's not true Smile

No she said (literally) "How are you [all] [in the] afternoon," - "tráthnóna" can mean either "afternoon" or "evening" afaik.

Is it just me, or is Bridog whatever-her-last-name-is (I don't know Irish, help!) very stiff and cold when she presents the Nuacht?

This last name is Ni Bhuachalla [nee vookhala] and I think she's stiff and cold too. She seems happy only at the end Very Happy

There was a bit of a mix up on S&O'S as well - they cut to Gráinne as Joe continued reading. They reverted to the wide shot, but Joe was looking at a different camera. He acknowledged the blunder, blaming it on Friday the 13th.

I noticed as well there, during RTÉ News with Signing the wrong DOG was displayed. And just out of interest, there's always a delay between Nuacht RTÉ and News with Signing, which can look quite bad I think. It's not so bad in the clip from Friday, but some days it can drag on. Is that because they need an extra few seconds to get everything in place?

A nice example of a cock-up some time ago, IMHO a very interesting and unusual shot (after the closing screen - of course from my favorite Nuacht Smile ) Scroll to 11:27

PS In my opinion Cormac's voice sounds a bit... strange? tired? in the ending...
