I'd love to think that they're listening to us here on TVF but I'd say its just a coincidence! They showed a clip of tonight's 'The Week in Politics' on the 6.01 today and they have gotten rid of the daft curtains that were convering the background and left it bare like during the news itself and it looks an awful lot better - the colour scheme is now a rich dark red/purple (reflecting the colours in the titles) with speckles of orange and navy in the background - it really looks nice IMO so well done to them for ditching the curtains. Now...if only they'd sort out the titles that they cruelly butchered!

Hello

I'd like to mention something on the Nuacht RTE again. Why the bulletins are arranged by so scruffy way on the http://www.rte.ie/news/nuacht.html website? A bunch of advertising before or... no advertising, but the part of the bulletin is cut off. It's sad that the RTE neglect Irish language publicity also online. I know it was different some time ago. At least they should cut off the commercials and suit the file perfectly to the bulletin's length, as it is done in other programmes. Cutting into stories would not be necessary, because Nuacht is to short to do that.

I also think that the RTE News website is getting boring with it's design... maybe someone knows something about RTE plans of making the site refreshed? Maybe soon we'll see a new coffee-coloured website? What do you think? Wink

Yes the website is due an update in the near future I believe. Up until now, legally they haven't been able to do so for some reason. As for exactly what they'll do with it is anybody's guess!

Here are some caps from The Week in Politics tonight - the set looks a lot different to the normal news set-up and it is rather 'colourful' but its a lot better than the way it was last year!

Note here how they use the 'lights up' effect at the start as well as the end of the programme. The background changes from all blue to red, purple and navy as the lights fade up - very nice.

Why aren't rte news producers, directors etc sacked or disciplined. In all seriousness, the daily mistakes would not be tolerated in any other news organisation.

Also, robotic new readers need retraining or need to stick to the radio.. Sharon, Aengus and Anne Doyle being the worst offenders with Eileen catching up fast.

Hello everyone,

Have you seen that the weather forecast disappeared from the end of Nuacht RTE? It's sad - I think the Irish language bulletins should be expanded and made more attractive when the number of everyday Irish speakers is falling down, not shortened...

If the number of everyday Irish speakers is falling down, surely the Irish language bulletins should be cut to reflect that fact. Smile

But if it's only 10 minutes long there isn't much to cut. A few minutes longer wouldn't go amiss, along with another bulletin on TG4 I reckon.

I was at the Ploughing Championships on Friday, and set the DVD to record the RTÉ bulletins and collect reports from the event. Imagine my delight when I returned home to find I had recorded this bulletin.

It's laughable the amount of mistakes here.
1:10 Watch the look on Aengus's face when he's told to move on after the report, which it seems was due to kick in, fails to show. What harm - it's only the top story! They end up having to return to the item twice over the space of the 17-minute bulletin, at 4:01 and 8:22
6:20 Aengus doesn't seem to know who he's talking to.
21:19 You have to mess around with Notepad to get this one. Not only do they put the wrong DOG up, but then they can't even to get it to work! Same problems as before.

Nice grabs from "A Week in Politics" Phen, they show what a bit of red lightning can do to a drab news set...

The wall like this would look good for the nine, nice and sultry. What are the titles like?

I agree - although today's handling of Nuacht just makes a complete mockery of the situation. Nuacht RTÉ began at about 5:40 due to the extended RTÉ News Special. Take a look at rte.ie's Nuacht coverage

It's a mess. It's made for sure automatically with no administration. This thing should be changed. But who from the RTE cares about the case?

PS How nice - parliamentary delegation from my country... I can't look on them even in Polish TV, now they invaded even the Irish one!! Argh!

I started thinking that each buliten should have it's own colour scheme:

For the One, and Nuacht:

For 6.1, much like now:

For the Nine, the TWIP background:
