but to be fair, rotten outfit and brutal CGI shot aside, that set wasn't that bad because it had a solid newsdesk and decent presentation for the time. Miles ahead of todays set which again, is not growing on me.
6.01 was a bit dodgy today - just sluggish overall. Hopefully that might be resolved when the full crew is back next week. And the afternoon bulletin at 3.15 came from the studio itself - haven't seen that in a long time so hopefully they're phasing out the broom-cupboard but I wouldn't hold my breath!

i've been watching the new look for a few days and parts i like and parts i don't like.
The theme music sound quite nice, and so do the mysterious titles. But i do prefer the previous ones.
The set looks a bit cramp and a little boring and the desk is too curvy.
I do hope RTE News tweek the look once Six One is expanded again.
does anyone else get the feeling the intro graphics on the current news is being cut short?? i think that there's more to the graphics but because Six One hasn't started properly yet that we might see the full blown titles next week? maybe then it'd make sense. The cadence at the end of the title music seems abruptly cut up because the graphics seem to build up to something and then just stop with the terrible white RTE logo.
I don't know... it sounds incredibly unlikely that they'd do it, but you'd never know really. Could be that they were more interested in learning the new shots, cues, graphics, LVOs and studio in a LIVE environment.
Therefore I (hope) think that next Monday we'll see a longer and more developed graphic and a 2-person set with all the bells and whistles at 6.1
Also, the celtic swirly things beside the astons seem to be generated by the pres team, because the cyclorama is just bland on its own. You notice it a lot when the shot goes from aston graphic to no aston.
Oh dear. Six-One got off to a bit of a disastrous start tonight. Dobbo was left to deliver the opening headlines minus most of the visuals, bed and titles. The first report then failed to start - a freeze frame remained on screen in silence for what seemed an eternity - but definitely over thirty seconds.
