Actually, if you read that line again:

... five daily bulletins on RTE One ...

So that would mean the 11 o'clock, the 1 o'clock, the Nuacht, the Six One and the Nine...

But where's the Late Summary? If you took out the Six and Nine which were explicitly mentioned, that leaves 2 spare bulletins... one goes to the Late Summary... with one left over!!! Will we possibly see an early-morning bulletin?? I hope so! TV3 have them by the balls in the morning.

And just a quick question - why does the article say relaunch tomorrow ' night ' - are they going to leave it until 6.01? Perhaps they'll do the new idents then as well because thats what they did the last time - I hate not knowing whats going to happen!

I reckon they might leave it until 9 Phen... sounds wierd I know but there's no other reason I can think of that they'd have Eileen in the press-released photo! Unless, and this is really going out on a limb here, she's taking on the Six, with the "Main Evening News" going to Dobbo and Sharon?!

In fairness it might make sense, if you consider that most people in Ireland today are still travelling home at 6 o'clock during the week, and in that way the 9 News would appear to be the better choice for the main news, with 6.1 taking on the mantle of main news at weekends??

6.1 is a minute past 6, but it's still classified as 'evening', where as 9 is after 8, the usual time considered to be 'night-time'... Am I losing the plot here in all the excitment???

I like it. I really like it. It looks great, and I'm really excited. I think it's great that Dunne is the focus point. She is really great, and I think she is the best female RTE News presenter.

I think the second idea is a bit far-fetched alright diarmy! I can't see Eileen taking over the 6 Laughing but you may be correct about not relaunching until 9 - I always thought that 6.01 had more viewers than the 9 but its a hard one to call. On the other hand, Eileen may only be in that photo because she may have been the only one around at the time! It could be as simple as that!

that's probably just it Phen... was giving too much credit to RTE for having a rehearsed photo when the odds are it was late and her turn to rehearse the set and happened to be the only news presenter rehearsing that night who didn't come in in jeans and a t-shirt!!

they're a great crowd in RTE too Laughing

Apart from Six One and the nine - there are already five other bulletins - a summary around 11am, the one, a summary in the afternoon (around 3ish i think), Nuacht and the late summary.

Also I'm not sure about the desk - I don't think it's round like the BBC - but sort of half moon shaped - if that makes sense? Or it could be totally round with the middle cut out but I don't think so...

Ah thats it - I forgot about the afternoon one. I have only ever seen it about twice! That would make sense then. It would be nice for them to do a bulletin in the early morning alright but as far as I know, they don't want to interfere with Morning Ireland on Radio 1. Its a brilliant programme every day - very well put together and very informative.

Now sorry to put a wet blanket on the excitement this evening but I want to mention this. Look how badly Colm is framed here. Talk about headroom! This is exactly the kind of thing we all want to see banished from our screens come tomorrow!

I'm thinking the set is going to be quite like the BBC world second set, albeit only in the layout, and on a smaller scale:http://www.nztvpres.justthathost.com/d.jpg

I would hope that it's in no way similar to World's second set, and that if it was it would be on a larger scale.

I just meant the curved desk.

Hmm, I think you could well be right about the desk, Séamus, but I still hope you're not. It's a horrible shape.

RTÉ One has just played out the RTÉ News promo complete with about ten seconds of shots of the old set. (Isn't it great that that's the "old set" now?). It's a great promo, but unless those bits can be edited out, it really should be ditched.
