[quote]A clip here I imagine most people here haven't seen from RTÉ News of Sharon Ní Bheoláin coughing her head off.
It would've been fantsatic if she was on her own Very Happy

That's brilliiant, Brian offers to take over, but the director just sits on Sharon and then she's forced to continue on as normal

And this one, during a disatrous Six One when Pres were having major problems - a bulletin littered with errors. Here the weathercaster practicing for his upcoming bulletin is cut up by Pres by accident. Get's the shock of his life!

This is brilliant, the shock on his face is priceless, then he goes to the size and we hear the sound of him pressing something. Wonder if RTE have a panic button installed. 43:38 in the same bulletin has a fabulous still of a player for an LVO before it goes to play about 30 seconds after sitting on it and jumps about before sitting on a blurry faced still!

Seen them already. Priceless that one was.

The one with Eileen Dunne was better, I think. She was, afterall, anchoring the newscast solo.

Surprised you hadn't seen them before Peter. That was one of the funniest bulletins ever - from the moment I turned it on I knew it was going to be entertainment all the way Very Happy. Edge-of-the-seat stuff Very Happy

Got a few other stills here too:

I don't normally get much viewing of the good old RTE News, normally I'm off working or just completely forget, so I enjoy coming on here in the evenings after a hard days work realising there's worse out there than some of the pure nonsense I've made Very Happy

It's amusing, becuase TV3 doesn't have anywhere near the resources that RTE have and probably not the budget, but they seem to carry their bulletins off smoother than RTE and have titles and a nice tune too, unlike RTE and it's pompass trumpets and swooshy sounds.

I mean just look at those titles again. WHY WHY WHY!!!!!!! Maybe the editor said news and no maps, so they were stumped! The Newsnight titles that appeared yesterday remind me of RTEs, but the concept is better with no random numbers.

Missed the Newsnight titles by a few seconds last night Sad - so will have to wait till this evening.

Have to say I like the RTÉ News titles, in that they look smart and have nice sophisticated colouring. But they are so very very boring (as Fr Noel Furlong in Father Ted once said) - quite literally nothing happens for most of their 10 second duration. There's notturning point, nothing to watch slowly evolving as is resolves itself towards the end - rather just a series of flickering binary (with letters thrown in for good measure!) to try and hold your interest, ironically on a television service that is still very much firmly stuck in the analogue realm. I still remember sniggering at the numbers the first time I saw them three years ago on the first ever One with Ken Hammond Smile

The trumpets are largely authoritative, if too tinny - that's the only thing I can remember from when I was still relatively objective about things. So used to them now that they've become impossible to assess!

The colours are nice, just the whole things a bit of a mess. However with the relaunch I can see us sniggering at them once they come out thinking "oh god"

I'm expecting purple and red swooshy things. I dunno why lol

After looking at the titles on the TV Room, I have to admit the ones previous were better, even if the music did just end unexpectedly!

OK a bit cliched but still, more meaningful than random numbers flickering about!
