Haven't RTE already done thing with TARA which folded a few years ago?
Yup, though I don't believe RTÉ owned 100% of it, I think there was another player in TARA, plus didn't this have some TV3 output or am I going mad? The channel flolded due to heavy losses, it's launch was only seen by a minority of Cable viewers, the channel went to Sky Digital but didn't suceed there either, so it was closed..
80% owned by what is now UPC Broadband (the same company which has apparently spent this week clearing out the top management of NTL Ireland and Chorus, which it is to combine to produce a single cable operator in Ireland). From what I remember from the time RTÉ was getting no money out of Tara and basically put the station into liquidation by withdrawing its programme rights.
