Have a look at this topic for some quite detailed instructions I made a while ago:

I'm not exactly blown away but for a smallish station they're pretty good.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Anyone had any idea what those reporters and anchors were saying in Irish during the 6.1? I've never seen Irish mixed with English on 6.1.

No idea, never seen it, but I'd guess it was 'Happy St. Patrick's Day'?

It was longer than that. I guess it was some kind of prayers or blessings.

News about RTÉ International - now being dubbed with the stupid name of "Diaspora TV" (really!) - has emerged. Apparently it will broadcast on Freesat and contain a mix of programmes from RTÉ One, RTÉ Two, and TG4, including all RTÉ News and Current Affairs TV programmes.

What a joke Diaspora TV is such as stupid name, RTE International sounds fine

The minister is fooling nobody. Whilst I do believe RTÉ genuinely want to get the service up and running as soon as possible, they haven't a notion of funding it all by themselves. The government doesn't want to have to pay for it either so they're all at loggerheads over the whole thing. I'd dearly love to see an international channel from RTÉ but i'm afraid we have to concede that we won't see the likes for a VERY long time Confused .

From wikipedia:

Quote:
the term diaspora meant "the scattered" and was used by the Ancient Greeks

that would explain the name although i agree and think RTE international would have been fine...

The ironic thing is that politicans in Ireland are trying to force RTÉ to do something there would be a huge outcry if it was done in the UK - force RTÉ to spend Irish licence fee money broadcasting to non licence fee payers.

RTÉ on the other hand, is looking for a direct government subvention for international broadcasting (much like the UK Foreign Office's financial support for the BBC World Service) which the government is balking at.

TV3 Nightly News has been a regular news bulitten this week (old TV3 News Tonight format rather than the interview/analysis format used of late), although the red set and titles remain. Its also been cut to 25 minutes.

No sign of Vincent Browne (his name isn't on the titles, either) , though I presume he is simply on an Easter break?

I'd say so. Really like his programme, they do seem to have good guests on.
