Didn't catch News at 5:30, but its new logo is here - http://www.tv3.ie/programmes.php?action=ep_view&id=17781
Ireland AM's summaries kept the old look for this morning, incidently - they probably wanted tor relaunch with News at 5:30 rather than on Ireland AM. Ireland AM will probably get the new look tommorow morning...
Press release for the new look...

Rather impressed with this new look for TV3 News...if Nightly News is anything to go by, it is a massive improvement.
No more cheesy logos revolving around or oversized italic astons. Instead the new look is more clean. The astons are plain transparent black, with the logo to the left and persons name and title (both all caps) to the right. Studio has a much smaller desk at one corner where the news presenter sits. There is a soft area in the centre of the studio which is where Browne does his interviews/presentation.
The titles involve the "3" logo being a revolving cube, with the text appearing at the end. The music is another re-arrangement of the previous theme, though the headline bed is different.
As for content, it was a mix of a traditional news bulitten (news headlines and some reports at the start, sport and weather at the end). In the middle was what was like an Irish version of Newsnight, which is something we've needed for years. Don't know if Browne is suited for it, he picked an argument with his first guest then overran when he tried to turn Trevor Welch's sports roundup at the end into a discussion on an incident in the Munster rugby match at the weekend.
Am off today and saw the News Update this morning - titles are blue rather than red and studio was recoloured to match. But since when has TV3 had in-vision continuity and special idents during the day?

Unfortunately, don't have a TV capture card anymore...
Caught News at 5:30 today... studio furniture is rather different at 5:30pm, a bigger desk is used in order to accomadate the two presenters and the soft area is removed. The whole studio looks rather different as the main colour used is blue rather than red. Of course since its a virtual studio only the furniture is real anyway.

Doesn't this fit the old look?

Not really, but if you changed the colour a bit...
For those interested, the studio is a wierd orange for Ireland AM. These are the only bulittens that have a logo that simply reads "3 NEWS" AFAIK, although this may also be the case for The Week In Review which is on too late on a Sunday night for anyone to care.

That is quite extraordinary.
Very flattering, I'm sure. The least they could do is invite you over for a tour to see your work in action, Mr Q!

Mr Q posted:
Interesting! No - nothing to do with me at all... Normally I tend to dismiss the idea of similarities between my work and a broadcaster's, but in this case, I've got to say, I find it hard to ignore just how remarkably alike they are. But hey - no complaints from me. I'm flattered more than anything!

A bit of a shake around yesterday with some presenters taking holidays. Una O Hagan is back on the News and was presenting the One O Clock. Meanwhile Six One had its very first News 2 presenters Anthony Murnane and Sharon Ni Bhoelain. Mind you John Finnerty had double covered One O Clock and Six one on Moday and Tuesday so I'm sure there was a day off on his contract after so many bulletins.

Probably the youngest presenting team Six-One has ever had! I don't recall Murnane and Ni Bheolan ever presenting together before, either - although they did use to alternate back in the days of News 2. So wierd seeing Murnane in a suit too, ties and jackets not being de riguer on RTÉ Two bulittens.
