Just noticed that the RTE News DOG is being added by RTE1 pres. It's a lot further from the left than usual.

Interesting! No - nothing to do with me at all... Normally I tend to dismiss the idea of similarities between my work and a broadcaster's, but in this case, I've got to say, I find it hard to ignore just how remarkably alike they are. But hey - no complaints from me. I'm flattered more than anything!

For those who have no idea what my mocks looked like...

Compared with TG4's new look...

Shocked I am speechless.

Sorry to change direction here, but is there any truth in the rumours that TV3 is to be relaunched and, if so, when? I believe they are getting a new Nightly News show in Novemeber, so can we expect a relaunch then?

Vincent Browne, a former presenter on RTE Radio 1 (Ireland's R4), will move to TV3 in November to do a current affairs show called TV3 Nightly News . Apparently a new virtual set will be introduced then, similar to that used on TV3's rugby world cup coverage. This will probably mean a switch to widescreen too.

Sounds good.

It will be the same virtual studio as is now being used for the RWC, obviously with a different background. In fact, this article in the Irish Independent implies that they are already using it...

But yes, I would expect a relaunch when Vincent Browne arrives.

(Incidently, I wouldn't really call RTÉ Radio 1 Ireland's Radio 4, it has a lot of speech programming, yes, but also plays a fair amount of country'n'Irish, MORM, and sometimes older pop music, something you won't hear on Radio 4)

True, but it's the closest thing we have.

Good evening, well, Siun Nic Gearailt has yet presented quite a few RTE News bulletins as Bearla, even the Six One last Wednesday was presented by her and Bryan Dobson. I think that in the new role she is equally natural and friendly as in the Nuacht bulletins. Besides, in the mentioned Wednesday Six One at the beginning could be heard "It's Six One, RTE News with Bryan Dobson and Siun Nic Gearailt" - if the RTE has recorded her name to that voiceover package then for sure she is fully recognised as a newscaster there.

Mentioning about Nuacht, it must be said and acknowleged that the RTE has rendered accessible the Cinnlinte Nuachta and the main Nuacht website was upgraded, now the commercials are cut from the beginning and the end.

Not very happy with the RTÉ News website revamp - the new "View By Category" makes it harder to find the latest news stories, although you can switch back to the old view.

No sign of TV3 Nightly News arriving anytime soon, although it was meant to launch in November. Granted, "November" could mean any day up to the 30th, but I wonder if they will not now leave it until January, its getting close to Christmas.

Great feck up in the last few minutes.

Sharon Ní Bheoláin is presenting the Nine News tonight and just a few minutes ago at the beginning of the filmed report on the president's address to the former Latvian leader, the sound dipped and Sharon could be heard shouting "Imagine putting that on the autocue and NOT TELLING ANYONE!"

Oh yes, many fun times to be had when people change things in the autocue Shocked This one didn't make it to air (it's from a tabloid news show in Australia) but I reckon it's even better:

Somebody in RTÉ must have been listening to the criticism, for the old view is now the default again!

Still no sign of TV3 Nightly News arriving anytime soon, although they are now clearly in the virtual studio - there are no more shots of anything wider than the actual desk.
