That set is much bigger, opposite that desk is a Breakfast set which includes another news desk and to our left there used to be a stand up area with a big screen.

I'm just saying the normal news set itself would fit perfectly in RTE's Studio. I didn't mean the breakfast set. All I meant was that RTE could definatly put a great set into a small studio.

Regarding the report on youtube, you talk too slowly, and you sound patronizing.

Umm all I was saying was that there was more to the set than in the caps

I was reffering to Channel2tv's report in the latter half of my comment. Sorry for the misunderstanding!

Been awhile since we've spoke about feck-ups, but the camera operation during Cinnlínte Nuachta today couldn't go unsaid!

Sorry to bring this up, but as it's been a year since the new set came, what are your thoughts?

I for one think this set is not going to last. It hasn't dated well, even after just a year. I don't see how they can make it through another year without some tweaks. I mean, something that would look good is something based off the BBC's 1999-2003 look. Another thing they could easily do is take out the brown backdrop and Put in CSO green. It could be any backdrop obviously, cheap, and could extend the life of the set by a long time, as they could tweak it often. Another good thing that they could probably do is gradually change the colour of the backdrop throughout the program.

Now that you mention it I'd say they could make something similar to the studio that France 24 use for Culture , The Debate etc pretty easily out of the current Studio 3. That would definately make their bulletins look a lot more professional (except it would mean presenters standing up ) Sad

The studio from France 24 Debate , which I thkink could be done in Studio 3:

As seen on Culture (includes wide shot at beginning):

And something like this could go in the newsroom to replace the CSO:

I think that jb91 has a point there. You could do the Culture/Debate studio quite easily in Studio 3.

These are photos of the set of TVNZ one in New Zealand. It seems perfect for RTE. TVNZ's studio seems roughly the size of RTE's, yet they can still make it look good. I just don't understand.RTE is just downright cheap. This would be much better.

Eeek - I feel I'm back in the mid-90s, odd shaped desk, blue/green colourscheme, messy "textured" background, soft edged insets and a plasma on a stand. I could be in any BBC regional news studio before the corporate revamp ... All we're missing is a nice bit of wood-effect somewhere, and possibly some little halogen downlighters...

(And did a spy a cliched city skyline "window"?)

Wel it's certainlt better than what we have now. Something like that german thing, with a bit more "set" than just the desk, would be great.

NEW LOOK NUACHT TG4 TONIGHT

Unfortunately I couldn't capture any of it. The studio has a new desk (it looks like a smaller version of the TVNZ one above) surrounded by what must be a green screen. There's a slowly-animating world map in the background, which looks A LOT like TagesSchau! The graphics are been changed slightly and look a lot better. Unfortunately half of the over-shoulder graphics are lost when watching in 14x9. The music could be better but I'd say it will grow on me.

I think it's far superior to RTE News.
