Yes, they're running coverage from 11:00am until whenever they close (usually midnight). Eammon Keane and Brenda Power will take 11:00-14:00, George Hook and Claire Byrne from 14:00-22:00, and John Keogh 22:00-close. This will be more than they did last time when they ran coverage from 11:00-22:00 (and IIRC broke for sport), although to be fair they were less than one month old at the time!.
Today FM are doing nothing outside of their regular programming. So that's the Last Word from 16:30-19:00. Dublin ILRs are doing nothing either, couldn't tell you about outside Dublin.
Incidently, there will be no special programming on Thursday night, so if there is an exit poll commissioned it will have to appear on RTÉ News on Two or TV3 News Tonight.
RTÉ and the BCI both have policy directives banning coverage of election issues in the 24 hours before an election and until poling stations close on the day of the election, so nothing on Wednesday either. The Panel is scheduled for 22:30 Wednesday, but I doubt it will be allowed go out.
Yeah it was quite good. The graphics did look well too. There was many problems though..the usual - the table with Brian Dobson was talking but the camera was on Miriam's.. That kinda thing happened. But above all, it was quite comprehensive.
What did people think of Newstalk versus RTE Radio?
IMO RTÉ Radio 1 won hands down, but RTÉ will always be able to attract better pundits and panelists than Newstalk.
Newstalk tried to concentrate more on providing a "breaking news" service with several speakers being interrupted mid-speech to go to declerations. (Then again, this happened on RTÉ as well to some extent).
I'm sure i'm not the only one to have noticed but they seem to have altered the plasma screen area - its no longer that dull grey but now it is lit up a dazzling white like the rest of the set. Looks much much better but a bit too isolated from the main part of the set when they don't use a hand-over shot. Only saw it on News on Two.
