The international feed of the match didn't quite have enough satellite time booked for it: the match over-ran a bit, but an automated switch at the uplink in France cut to colour bars when it was programmed to. I think it was a couple of minutes before it was put back on air.
The feed was going via the EBU to most of the world, so there were quite a few unhappy people!

During the Six Nations, I'm reliably informed that during the most crucial moment of France v Scotland, somebody cut up the Aertel generator used for Nightscreen!

I'm not sure, but maybe if you have both Windows Media Player and Real, it's the two programmes clashing.
Just like trying to play an MP3 track in the Creativ Zen player, getting half way through it and then clashing with WMP....?

16 April:
Six-One: 2:40 / 42:35 ( ends 8:05 / 44:44 )
Nine O'Clock: 2:10 ( ends 12:12 )
Note at 2:50 during the Nine O'Clock bulletin, that the script reads how a gunman "went on the rampage", as opposed to "went on a rampage".
It's a small difference, only the first one has been used (in my neck of the woods anyway) as a laddish phrase with a sense of bravado about it, one which has nothing to do with literally going on a rampage and more to do with "having the craic".
That, of course, is so far removed from the tragedy today. However it was good to see RTÉ have a student on the line to give an account, and he certainly seemed to be more involved in what happened than most of the other accounts I've heard throughout the day. Anne Doyle's even mentioned on the Wikipedia article of today's events.
EDIT: The BBC have also referred to the gunman going "on the rampage".

Did anyone else hear Seamus O'Scanláin (from Nuacht TG4) reading the news in English over
News for the Deaf
on Saturday?
I always thought his voice was dull and annoying but I didn't think it was that bad. How can he be employed as a newsreader?

NEW LOOK PRIMETIME
Prime Time lastnight was broadcast from a new studio with new titles. The old theme tune has been kept. The studio looks a lot like the BBC News studio when it's adjusted for Newsnight. The desks used seem to be the same as the RTE Sport ones, with the white light boxes removed and the "RTE SPORT" signs replaced with "PRIME TIME".
There seems to be at least one video screen - It was used in the wide shot at the start of the show lastnight to show pictures of that family from Wexford.
The title sequence reminds me of the original "Nuacht TnaG", but it still looks fresh, as does the set.
Something more original would be nice but it could be worse. I wish they'd bring back the titles and wide shot at the end though
