My thoughts are that if there is an english builliten going on RTE One or TWO, have at least a 10 minute nuacht buiilten, with a few full buillitens today. I guess it would be branded as an independent channel, since it would a joint venture. I think ITN or UTV would want to partner up, and if that is possible, perhaps ITN could produce a seperate National News builleten for UTV instead of ITV News, and could be simulcast of tv3 also. IMO it would work quite well.

Edit:
Regarding the video wall, I would simply use it as an inset graphic, like a plasma, and there would be no standing up or anything, just as a background. When it's not used, I would put the normal background on it, either a dublin view, or a newsroom view.

They will be piggy-backing off the BBC NI coverage using the same links etc as they are providing a bunch of the OBs and output.

Here is what I think would be good for a news channel:

Small, but I think it does the job.

Does Leaders Questions ordinarily use the old news music or was the close to today's programme a once-off? I don't usually get the chance to watch LQ, only caught a bit of it today and it was refreshingly strange...

On to this afternoon's Prime Time Special at 1:30, and the first 20 minutes or so could have went better. On numerous occasions, the satellite delay was comically evident. Not a lot that can be done about that, but the link to a reporter went down, leaving her unaware as to whether or not she was actually on-air. The wrong location graphic was also included at one point.

The straps were very high up, presumably a ticker and other graphics will be introduced from three.

I'll post the link if it becomes available. In the meantime, watch RTÉ One live:

That was only for today I think. With the autocue feed on the left, 14:9 viewers miss the first letter of each line, whereas when it's aligned to the right, the last letter is sometimes missing, but not usually.

Anyhoo, having it as part of the bulletin looked nice I thought.

For now though, if you can possibly get to a TV or can click on the link above, check out the coverage on RTÉ One. There's staff in shot, massive delays from the studio in Belfast to other parts of Antrim, and loads of other stuff going on. With election day coverage, there is an increased likelihood for things to go wrong, but it seems to be pretty frequent here

There's plenty of opportunities for cockups - it's coming from the BBCs Blackstaff studio, and the lines are having to be shared with BBC NI for the lives.

Not only that, if you think every piece of broadcast equipment in NI and ROI is involved in the election coverage, it's quite a feat...

Any caps of RTE's coverage?

That would be something I'd like to see - I missed all of RTÉ's election coverage due to other committments, and it might (or might not) give us an idea of what they've planned for the General Election down here in May.

Presentation change?

The closing theme from 2003-2006 featured once again on today's One O'Clock: Scroll to 20:16. That's at least twice this week - is it planned to reintroduce it permanently I wonder?

Scroll to 24:10, where the end of the script from Cinnlínte Nuachta is missing. Brídóg continued without a problem.

Anyhoo, scroll here to 31:29 for the first 90 seconds or so of yesterday's election coverage.
