Cinnlínte Nuachta didn't go too well today...
http://dynamic.rte.ie/av/2212307.smil
Open the file in Notepad and change the clip-end time so that it reads 25:22 instead of 20:22:
clip-begin="00:02:47"
clip-end="00:25:22"
20:10 The bulletin begins with Aengus's script appearing after a few seconds
20:55 More autocue problems
Fair fecks to Siún, she carried the whole thing along with her usual style. Note the closing shot at 21:45, it shows Siún in the studio instead of the background we usually see with the credits superimposed.
A bad week keeps getting worse...

Maybe RTE should follow the Italian (RAI) model - no autocue at all

Her style of going along is good, with her reflex and sense. And the closing shot... Personally I liked it

A different autocue problem to the one we're used to, today's script for cinnlínte nuachta stated that Nuacht RTÉ would be at a ceathrú tar éis a seacht. Brídóg corrected the mistake herself.
A bit OT, but was watching More 4 News the other night, when the programme ended like this...
"Our main headline tonight, our political editor has discovered that the Prime Minister has caved in in the row over gay adoption. After meeting Labour backbenchers this afternoon, we understand that Mr. Blair won't now be pushing for Catholic adpotion agencies to be allowed an exemption from the law which will require them to place gay children - children with gay couples. That's all from us. Good night."
A freudian slip which couldn't be helped, but it's funny all the same!

Will have a look at Rai News (didn't know they had no autocue) but why don't RTE just ditch the studio cameras altogether in favour of EuroNews style presentation? It wouldn't bee too interesting but it might look a bit more professional. And there wouldn't be so much disappointment following a relaunch with "LED screens" that turned out to be a sexed up way of saying "a big brown yoke"...

I don't know about RAI News 24, but in TG2 and TG3, and on regional editions mostly there is no autocue. The presenters just read from their papers. Or maybe they just don't like their autocue or something... who would know these Italians...

It's been mentioned before, but here's an update on RTÉ International, which, according to this article, will eventually be rolled out worldwide.

Unlike BBC World, however, it will be part-funded by the licence fee

Was able to watch TG1 going to and from reports and I also noticed the guy had no earpiece. Maybe not having an autocue is why the guy talks so quickly (I know everyone thinks that when they can't understand something but I think it's fair to say he really does rush through the links)

And how do you feel about the look of the set? Kind of spaceship, or something... hopeless for me
And the beginning animation looks and sounds like communist Polish television "Journal" in the 1980's.
