Um - we already had a News special at lunchtime - how many more do we need?

Talking of News Specials, I Watched Central News West tonight, fantastic coverage, but I bet MIDLANDS TODAY was better wasnt it TV MERCIA?

well its about time the BBC decide to use their screens. like at the start, Huw was standing at the screen which was good visually. Then the different images on the screens went well.

DO IT MORE OFTEN!

If you want something like that (standy-uppy, images around the back and sides), ITV News already caters for you, so I don't really see a reason why the BBC need to start doing this more often.

ITV News does that becouse they have a screen and use it. the BBC have so many screens that so many things can be done with them but they dont use it, like for the start of the 10, have Huw standing at the centre screen with an animation playing, a bit like on CBS or NBC. Or have more use of the screens at the side. Like for the headlines at 10:30, Huw would do them from the screen and would walk over to the desk at the end. I feel it makes the news more interesting to look at rather then them siting all the damn time, looking the same

I was listening to Tezza this morning on R2... and they actually interrupted a song to bring us the news - I thought it was going to be something serious!

Don't know how many other stations interrupted songs... but I don't think it warranted an interruption really!

Yes, ok, it would make the news more interesting, and hopefully come 2008 it will be much more interesting then the current setup, but I just think it is pointless at this point to start fiddling with the setup and [essentially] copying ITV when the ratings and perception of the 1,6*,10 are not in a dangerous position.

I hate standing-up-pointing-at-things news. Perhaps I'm getting old at the ripe old age of 31, but I just want someone to sit there and read the news. Content is the important factor.

Just wondering what international coverage of the story has been like, especially in America.

have to wait till 11:30 for the 1st lot!

i say for the wedding, they'll ship out Brian Williams to Winsor, they sent Tom Brokaw out along with a few from the TODAY show out for Prince Charles' first wedding, but cos this is low key, i say Brian will just do a report for TODAY and will present NN from london!

Just listened back to it online, as I do most days. What I found quite amusing is he avoided saying a word about it at all for the rest of the programme. Probably wary of the divided public opinion. Can't wait till tomorrow though.
