Wedding to be conducted by the registrar of Slough!

Not too impressed with N24 (the only channel I can watch where I am working today). They keep speculating on aspects of the news that have already been cleared up by official statements

Is this story really that worthy of such long news specials?
Surely this is what the News Channels are for? Isn't that part of BBC's digital strategy to point viewers towards BBC News 24?

Oh, come on, it's a great story.

Much as I dislike the Royal family, you can't help but recognise that it is very attention grabbing event.

News 24 have just managed to miss Charles arriving in The City, which Sky took live. News 24 is a bit too in-studio for my liking.

I think we are sending Lyse Doucet too. Might as well. She does everything else...................................

So I wonder if you lot will have Sir Trevor live from Windsor tonight too.

AND, I wonder if the wedding will be televised??????? (a la true Royal Wedding style................)

What wedding is there to televise? Its a regisitry office type ceremony and a blessing in St George's Chapel...

Well, I've watched the last three TOTHs on Sky News and each time it's been very very good. I'm sticking with Sky News with this one - every time I flick to News 24 on it's either Nicholas Witchell or a recorded report, and all ITV News seem to care about is telling us constantly that they broke it first.

ITV News ran it as Exclusive until the Clarence House confirmed it. Sky News and BBC News 24 broke it (not until it was confirmed) just after, in that order. GMTV at 9:13. Breakfast on BBC One not until 9:14.

In the past such announcements would have been on BBC One first. Quite a big thing for ITV to get the exclusive.

Actually I saw it on BBC One first - they interupted an interview to flash it quoting PA .. I then switched to N24 who did a few moments later. But as others have mentioned it was a Standard exclusive.

Since Leyla has presented she has over-emphasised the fact that they were the first with the news. OK - get over it - and follow it up with some more journalism rather than pats on the back.

Leyla has just announced that there will be an ITV News Special at 19:30 on ITV1 repeated on the ITV News Channel at 23:00.

I wonder how that will affect the ITV1 regions?

ITV News began early at 12:27 today!!!

Of course...

Evening Standard = DMGT = ITN shareholders = ITV News.

Whats your point?? dont think that anyone an the Standard feels any particular allegiance towards ITN, If thats the case why didn't they let Teletext, which they own outright, break the story ?
