Where abouts is ITV's studio. Is it in the lower 'outside' tier of the main studio block?

I'm not sure the BBC's Westminster Abbey studio worked as well as it could have, it seemed a bit cut off from the excitement. ITV's Mary Nightingale seemed more in the thick of the action.

NBC just had a 'Countdown to the Kiss' dog with a timer in the top right hand corner! Laughing

I noticed that. Very Happy

Been overly impressed with Today's coverage.

CNN wasn't very good- fine for the American audience but Cat Deeley and Piers Morgan were probably the worst possible combination

Are you including Dermot O'Leary and Angela Rippon in that? I didn't really watch enough of E!'s coverage to fairly judge but the little bits I did see weren't as car crash as it might have been.

I still don't know who would choose to watch an event like this on E! though. As Matthew Wright said at the start of this mornings The Wright Stuff Royal Wedding Special, "Why are you watching this when the BBC have spent millions on the wedding coverage?" (paraphrased).

What is going on with Huw looking to the right of the camera all of the time? It seems rather awkward. Is the autocue not positioned on the camera?

He's been doing it all day, and it's one of the things that detracts from the BBC's coverage. He'll do a long piece to camera, and then suddenly his head will start darting to the side every few seconds.

Getting more inane in topic conversation now. Kate Garraway asks person who works in shop in Bucklebury, "What sorts of things does Kate buy?" - "Everyday things".

I'll be sticking with BBC. Talking about food, but it has much more relevance.

Spare us the snobbery... ITV's coverage has remained upbeat and lively, not dour and rather staid like another broadcaster's coverage. A shame the ratings will probably not be that favourable for ITV. OK, perhaps the inclusion of Kate Garraway is a head-scratch moment, but that aside, I think ITV hit the right mood in their coverage today. There is much more of a happy atmosphere, without the main presenters going too over the top... there is enough gravitas from people like Julie Etchingham, Mary Nightingale and so on to counterbalance the laidback style of Phillip Schofield, etc. It could have easily backfired for ITV, as pointed out earlier in the thread, but I actually think it has worked a treat.

You can spare me the criticism of my opinion. Why can't people just give their opinion on this forum without attacking people in the process? It always happens. I understand that people will watch the coverage for different perspectives and such, and I honestly enjoy the BBC's coverage a bit more. That's all, it's not snobbery.

Grow up, get back on topic and just be happy. It's the royal wedding day!

My comment about inane coverage wasn't exclusive to ITV, the BBC have got less to talk about as well. I'm just saying that at times the ITV coverage seems to be a little pointless and some things mentioned really go without saying. Having said that, the appearance of NBC's Ann Curry on ITV to give an American perspective was very good.

Surprised that Tim Ewart hasn't featured in ITV's coverage today but it was nice to see Romilly Weeks have a substantial role in the coverage.

What was Kate wearing? This morning when I tuned into Daybreak her outfit was questionable... Have Adrian and Christine appeared again in any capacity since 8.30?

Have to admit I was more impressed with Today/ NBC's coverage than the BBC's. Every time Fearne Cotton appeared to ask some young girls "did you see Kate's dress" to a "I think I saw some white" answer I knew the BBC coverage was poor.

In fairness, every bit of non-live Huw Edwards coverage was abysmal today. Asking random members of the public generic questions with obvious answers. There needed to be a lot more of Huw and Sophie interviewing guests and a lot less of Chris Hollins asking people about their day. Far too much dumbing down.

I don't think this afternoon's continued coverage is particularly necessary.

It's replays, interviews and street parties. Time to switch off.

I think that's what bothered me most about the BBC coverage - Huw looks and sounds constantly on edge all the time. That and the fact he was droning on about historical factoids like he was commenting on a memorial service.

Having said that, I do like the BBC studio with the overhanging tree folliage creating a nice light-green fringe at the top of the picture, which looks fantastic compared to ITV's overcast sky. But you can't control the weather!

It wasn't an attack, and I certainly don't think I need to grow up! Your comments of "inane" and "I'll stick to BBC" just came across to me as something of a snobbish post, especially in the light of many comments regarding ITV's coverage less weak than the BBC's. I apologise if it wasn't intended, but I got that sort of impression. And, being nitpicky, I do think I was on topic. Wink

I was really surprised he didn't feature. I get the feeling though that he'll be on the News at Six and News at Ten with summaries of the day. What about the BBC though, has Nicholas Witchell appeared at all today?

I'm too growing somewhat bored of the coverage at the moment - it would have been better if it had ended around an hour or two ago, rather than drawing it out into the afternoon with repeats etc. Although I do appreciate that some will be just tuning in, having missed the morning's events.
