The Beeb seem to be having major 5.1 audio problems via BBC 1HD. OB injects into the coverage have no audio, and it looks as if Red Bee are having to switch to an upconverted SD feed during those contributions ?

I was querying that too. Huw handed over, to be greeted by silence. They then went through half of an interview with no audio, before it faded up. Even that audio was rather quiet, wasn't it? They then did it again a minute later in a different OB.

I wonder what happened on BBC 1 SD, was the audio present there ? I suspect a meta-data problem between the master OB truck and Red Bee possibly ?

BBC One SD was fine. Looks like a Stereo vs Dolby E issue.

AIUI there is a stereo mix and a 5.1 mix - sounds like the stereo OBs didn't get into the 5.1 mix somehow?

So BBC One SD (taking the stereo mix - NOT a downconvert of the 5.1 mix) was fine, BBC One HD went to silence, and Red Bee had to switch BBC One HD back to an upconvert of BBC One SD to get the audio.

May not be metadata (as per Eurovision 2008) but could be something more to do with the mix. I suspect the main truck monitoring is still stereo (with HD pix) - so the gallery wouldn't have known about the silence on BBC One HD and will have carried on.

Agree with the comments about ITV's coverage, it has been really enjoyable. They seem to have got the tone better than the BBC.

haha. Mark seems to be a bit bemused with the crowds!lol: Everyone seems to recongnise him though! When Mark started with champage at about 9am, you knew it was going to be quite good fun! Great banter between the ITV team!

Shame Alastair hasn't had a bigger role today though.

While the BBC are showing the couple kissing, this stream has a pigeon walking on the pavement.

Mark has been quite funny with some of his comments, he's basically saying what we're thinking e.g. "lets hope they don't storm the gates" Laughing . It was quite funny this morning too when he was hesistating whether to take vodka and red bull of someone in the crowd.

The international feed is still running just showing beauty scenes from Buckingham Palace now and the crowds there.

Phillip Schofield just pecked Julie Etchingham on the cheek, much to the amusement of the crowd. Very Happy

Hmm, it went from YouTube at the same time as the BBC programme finished.
