The shot into the break on ITV shows what most people have been asking. ITV have got a researcher stood behind the camera telling the crowd to cheer.

I don't think it's very appropriate for Fiona to be reading some other serious news stories from Buckingham Palace with cheering in the background.

If the BBC's viewing figures are higher it's because people assumed there would be adverts on ITV.

No, it's because that's where people always go for the big national events. Incidently did anyone see the great BBC One promo before the lunchtime news bulletin

The BBC do it their way, and the light channel do it their way.... as it should be.

I saw about 30 seconds of it on the News Channel before they crashed out of it and into the filler 'countdown' loop for no good reason. It looked great from what I saw, very clever - I'll have to look out for the rest of it.

Did the News Channel drop all the on-screen graphics for the simulcast?

Not sure if this is the first TOTH to feature this as I've not been watching for the last few hours, but the 1900 TOTH featured the standard BBC News countdown music but with a montage of scenes from the day; no countdown numbers though.

Throughout the day the BBC have had an awful lot more presenters and reporters around Buckingham Palace and on The Mall than they need to. Surely Fiona Bruce could still be there presenting?

The "light" channel? You mean ITV then?

So the BBC do it badly, and ITV do it brilliantly, just as it should be you reckon?
