Matt Smith was in St. Andrew's, as was Edith Bowman on a number of occasions.

Pictures of William and Kate leaving Buckingham Palace now in car! Looks funny!!

Yes it was very funny. The BBC, however, just couldn't help thinking William was doing something naughty and oh isn't it daring, teeheehee. Bringing up the potential security issues and that. Rolling Eyes Meanwhile, the ITV team were all smiles, comparing it to the scene from James Bond and saying they look how a couple are meant to look when they're in love. Smile

If the BBC's viewing figures are higher it's because people assumed there would be adverts on ITV.

I fully agree Ginnyfan. CNNs coverage was a complete disaster. As you say, the early segments presented by Richard Quest and Becky Anderson before that were fine. But the Morgan Coper Deeley trio was indeed a disaster for CNN and a complete failure, which is sad, for such a major broadcaster to get it SO wrong.

Nick Witchell, who was a guest in the abbey, has now appeared back on BBC World, on station with Mishal Husain at BP.

Strange moment on the NC between the BBC1 simulcast and the 4pm news bulletin - just put up a wide shot of Buck House with the countdown music.

The NC is doing its own version of the wedding coverage now, it having been BBC Productions up to now, BBC News are having a go

Well obvioulsy it's a given that BBC will outrate ITV by quite a big margin, but I do hope ITV get a decent audience as they really do deserve it, even if it was say e.g. Total Audience 25m, BBC1 17m, 8m ITV1. For the World Cup final BBC always outrate ITV by about 4/5:1.

I'm suprised ITV didn't make a bigger deal of the fact thay weren't having ad's. Apart from a some mentions from Phil on twitter etc and on ITV News, it wasn't made very known. Don't think it was mentioned in their promo either.

Lovely closing montage and lovely choice of music from ITV too. Anyone know what the music was? Didn't catch BBC's monatge, will try an look on iplayer later, any good?

Absolutely adored ITV's coverage, only tuned in after the ceremony itself because I was bored of Huw and Fearne and a few people on DS were saying that ITV1 HD's picture quality on Freeview was better than that of the BBC's. Everything seemed to work really well for them. I can't help but feel that we'll be seeing Julie being used as a stand-in for Holly on This Morning in the future.

As has been said the ratings almost certainly won't justify their hard work. Did ITV actually advertise the fact that it was going to be commercial free? I didn't see any mention of it on TV. That could have brought in a lot of people who otherwise would have been put off by ads.

It's a tough line they have to play really, if their promos mentioned that the coverage would be without adverts, that would p*ss off the advertisers I think. ITV publicly stating that even they hate adverts.

By the way I was only half watching at the end, but when Mark, Mary and Alistair were on the sofa, did I notice a slight dig at Mark from Alistair? Something along the lines of 'Unlike Mark, I HAVE covered a Royal Wedding before' ? Or did I read too much into it.

I think he was just following up as Mark mentioned beforehand that this was the first Royal Wedding he's covered.

I agree it's a surprise ITV didn't play on being ad free slightly more - they can easily keep the advertisers free by carefully phrasing it.

I thought that as well but think about it, ITV is Britain's only commercial network that can regularly attract audiences of over three million, I can't imagine advertisers would be so offended that they'd withdraw their advertising from the one place were they can grab a huge audience with one thirty second ad. And it's not like they would have been able to advertise during the majority of the programme anyway. I think ITV should have just bitten the bullet and tried to get as many viewers as possible for this one-off event. It might have given their regular news bulletins a hand in the ratings.
