Worth noting that CBS News have their own, UK based SNG like NBC, but it is not as obvious! It just has an eye-mark on the bonnet and back doors!

Are you sure it's not the man that goes round changing the advertising boards? Laughing

Glaring self-promotion, I'm surprised Sky News haven't followed suit with Holmes and Burley etc Laughing

Australia's Seven are out and about this week - live tonight from Walkabout in Temple.

[edit] I'm watching a bit of their show now - they seem to be anchoring (two anchors plus news and sports presenters) from a tall-ish building somewhere near Victoria, but I've not quite been able work it out the views they're getting from it. Also, contrary to what their website says, they've got some reporters inside the Redback in Acton. Horrible place.

Are you definitely talking about 7's Sunrise? They were presenting from outside Buckingham Palace when I was watching just now.

9's Today show has a studio in a tall building with views over Westminster and the London Eye. Not sure exactly where they are, but it can't be far from Trafalgar Square as it has a similar view to my office there (albeit from quite a bit higher up). If I had to guess, I'd say they're somewhere like New Zealand House on Haymarket.

Great minds, clearly! I see what you mean about MSNBC spending a lot of time talking about British issues - quite nice, really, as the others are mostly only talking about the obvious wedding stuff, and stereotypical things such as how to drink tea.

As well as talking about how to drink tea, CNN/US had Niall Ferguson on talking about the UK austerity cuts and the inevitable US comparisons. And also played out bits of an interview with Gordon Brown. So not all fluff

Probably too murky to delve into, but I'd have thought for suvh events the copyright would be with the broadcasters who originally showed them.

Nope - the Crown grants access to the broadcasters to cover private events (i.e. the stuff within St Pauls or Westminster Abbey) and retains rights over their use. Coverage of the Royal events in a public space (i.e. outside) are not covered by this - so using stuff of processions etc. is easy, using stuff of the actual service is more complicated. It's not impossible to use - but you need to go through the right channels.

They raised a good point though on 10 o'clock Live last week. If the American's are so interested in it, why not charge them for the rights to broadcast it and let that pay for the event itself.[/quote]

Not sure how the money works for this.

In Sweden they had a Royal Wedding last year, and charged for the footage, which meant AP and Reuters didn't take the material and it wasn't shown as widely as it otherwise would have been. Caused quite a scandal.

Anyone ever thought that The Royal Family are the only ones who will get a super duper 'wedding video', while the rest of us will have to put up with 'Dave's Wedding Video Recordings' or similar for our own?

Looking at the pictures of the studios at Canada Gate, I was just thinking - where do the usual ITV/ BBC News etc reports come from? ( of course before the temp studios were built). Obviously somewhere around the Canada Gate area, only it might just be me or the camera angle, but they seem to be raised, like they would be in the temp studio. ( Hope this makes sense - quite hard to word what I want to say).
