Most of the US morning shows have started broadcasting at least in part from London today, from various locations across town.

CNN and NBC seem to be in the bank of studios opposite Buckingham Palace (see the photo I posted a couple of pages back).

ABC, CBS and MSNBC are doing their own thing. ABC has taken over part of the South Bank by the London Eye), where they've got their own open-top bus. CBS has built a covered stage by the Tower of London, with a view of Tower Bridge. And MSNBC is on a raised platform in Trafalgar Square, outside the National Gallery (Morning Joe is coming entirely from there).

Fox News is the only network still entirely in New York - they're trailing coverage from London starting on Wednesday.

Anyone seen what any other overseas media are doing?

If anyone's interested, MSNBC's Morning Joe is coming from London all week (which is interesting as they seem to be discussing British politics and culture rather than the usual American politics, which is curious as the US tends to completely glance over British politics unless it directly affects them) with all the American networks based in one way or another in the country for the week.

Also, Keir Simmons has been doing a lot of reporting for NBC News over the last few weeks, appearing as an "NBC correspondent" on both Today and Nightly News. Glad to see the ITV/NBC correspondent sharing is going well, but he's a pretty bad representation of British correspondents as far as I'm concerned.

Edit: @mark - Really?! REALLY?! If only I hadn't corrected Keir Simmons name I would have got there first....

Also the Today show has Meredith Viera reporting from outside Buckingham Palace, with Natalie Morales in Bucklebury.

Great minds, clearly! I see what you mean about MSNBC spending a lot of time talking about British issues - quite nice, really, as the others are mostly only talking about the obvious wedding stuff, and stereotypical things such as how to drink tea.

I work right by Trafalgar Square, so might wander past when I'm back at work tomorrow to see what they're up to.

Agreed! I'm well aware if I want to avoid Fearne Cotton and Phillip Schofield in coverage I may well take a look at what the Americans are doing instead.

MSNBC/ NBC have the advantage of having Martin Bashir there - a respected British journalist who rose to America's attention from his interview with Princess Diana for Panorama, and is now a leading MSNBC anchor. Apparently they're going to be talking about potential fines over the Olympics soon, they really seem to be making the most of it. What kind of workforce do NBC, ABC and CBS have in the UK? I know they all have offices and contribute to programming, but I wonder how much of something like this is coming from UK-based staff or American staff who have flown over.

It's amazing the weather's holding up for them - so far this is a bad representation of England!

You should - I'd be interested to know what the studio's like. We just caught a brief glimpse of it and it seemed a bit bigger than I'd imagined.

I've no idea how big they all are - though I know that NBC are these days based at 200 Grays Inn Road, and share some facilities with ITN.

They've also got their own UK-based sat truck, which I spotted near Paddington last year:

ABC have a London bureau too, in Hammersmith - I think in the same place as Disney's UK headquarters.

Wonder if we'll get any special idents then this week.
They raised a good point though on 10 o'clock Live last week. If the American's are so interested in it, why not charge them for the rights to broadcast it and let that pay for the event itself.

Incidentally, for those who missed it, I rather enjoyed Charlie Brooker's take on the run-up to the coverage, including a rather sickly trailer from ET:

And the amazing coincidence of both William and his mother getting married on days of the year.

Australia's Seven are out and about this week - live tonight from Walkabout in Temple.

[edit] I'm watching a bit of their show now - they seem to be anchoring (two anchors plus news and sports presenters) from a tall-ish building somewhere near Victoria, but I've not quite been able work it out the views they're getting from it. Also, contrary to what their website says, they've got some reporters inside the Redback in Acton. Horrible place.

That's right. Their Royal Wedding nerve centre seems to be at the bottom of the atrium at GIR. They've set up a load of workstations etc. there recently.

Worth noting that CBS News have their own, UK based SNG like NBC, but it is not as obvious! It just has an eye-mark on the bonnet and back doors!
