BBC World Channel is staying with the News channel while GMT goes ahead on BBC Two. (Despite BBC World going to a weather and break filler they came back to the news channel rather then launching GMT.

Does WN really need rolling coverage of such a UK-centric (and frankly undeveloping) story? Mention it once, mention it a few times but why does all other news go ahead as planned?

CNN has rolling coverage of it too, they already had prepared taped reports on the couple, history of royal weddings etc. They seem very excited about it.

BBC World has to go full tilt at this, it's breakfast time across North America and their morning programmes will be going overboard on this, note Stephanopoulos' slightly psychophantic beginning to GMA shown on BBC News a few minutes ago. It'd be bizarre if BBC World didn't go along.

I would hardly call it UK-Centric. He is 2nd in line to be the head of state of Canada, Australia etc. And Royal Weddings attract huge global interest for the novelty/curiosity value

Having said that maybe 12.30 would have been a good time for World to start 'doing it own thing again' and covering other stories

And that's all fine, but what is rolling news actually going to tell you that you couldn't slot into regular intervals of GMT?

As ever, ITV News fails at times of National significance. It has to be said though, I am sure ITN went to the network with a request to run coverage, and probably turned down.

What would be the point? There's not a lot more to say at this point, and This Morning and Loose Women are talking about it anyway.

There's a special at 1930 tonight, replacing River Monsters (and ITV1 Wales/UTV/STV/Channel's programmes, it would have to be one of those slots!).

Every point, as per several comments above..

Interestingly, most of the BBC News articles are in the old page style. Guessing they were penned a long time ago, ready to roll out whenever the announcement was made?

Tom Bradby has secured the first interview according to the Guardian. It will be broadcast this afternoon.

My goodness. Any other ITN journalist, yes, but.... Tom Bradby?! Yikes. Isn't Tim Ewart supposed to be ITV's Royal Correspondent?

Also noteworthy that Mark Austin is presenting the ITV News at 1:30.

The opt outs for ad breaks were a bit erratic, the top of the hour at 1200 crashed straight into the middle of a package already running on the news channel. The presenter welcomed World viewers even though we'd been watching for ages
