It's an understandable decision really from ITV - they're going to get thrashed whatever they do anyway as always happens in a head to head with the BBC - and lets face it, the coverage (on all channels in fact) will be more about the trivialities of the day than any historical significance.

I'm not sure though Schofield is the right choice - if they're going for someone outside news Alan Titchmarsh is probably the most appropriate option ITV have. Wonder too whether Tom Bradby is favoured enough by the Royals to get an invite. Then again now he is no longer Royal Correspondent he's probably not as crucial to the coverage as he might have been previously

BTW, what time is the wedding? I assumed if it was in the afternoon they'd be a This Morning building up to it anyway.

Yeah Alan Titchmarsh would have been a better choice IMO, if ITV wanted a bit of an entertainemt person as he has done at least one sort of royal documentary ( All the Queens Horses etc). Even one of the Daybreak presenters - Adrian Chiles? He seems to be one of the "faces of ITV" and at least his got some journalistic background. Speaking of which I wonder if Daybreak will be on location for once? GMTV used to be for major events, but Daybreak hasn't been yet

Tom Bradby I imagine might get an invite - and he seems to be invloved in the coverage too, as on the royal section of the ITV News website, Tom is the only other person alongside Tim Ewart having his "blog" listed on their.

It's 11am btw. So maybe the reasoning is that This Morning is usually on at that time, so have a recongnisable face.

Just keep Daybreak on the haul day! Kate and Dan could present it then!

Imagine all the negative press attention that would attract.

Almost certainly Daybreak will be in Wedding mode from 0600-0925 so Chiles will be busy then. Schofield isn't too bad a choice in my view, he'll no doubt be on celeb watch or something equally This Morningish. I'd expect his involvement to be for 'colour' only with the substance of the event covered by the ITN representatives on the team.

So an 11am kick-off then. Usually that would limit ITV to a 9.25am start - though in theory they could start at 8.30am and replace Lorraine - although a Lorraine special leading up to their coverage at 9.25am would probably perform better.

I suspect then the BBC will begin at 9am after Breakfast (which usually finishes at 9am on Bank Holidays). Would there be much to show in the afternoon, or do we think coverage will wrap up with the lunchtime news on both channels?

It'll go on All Day waiting for the Buckingham Palace appearance etc.

I'd be very surprised if they ditched Lorraine, although being on a Friday she won't actually be on Laughing . If they don't start wedding coverage at 9.25am, I imagine they'll run a This Morning special in the Jeremy Kyle slot.

Come 0925 Guests will be arriving at Westminster Abbey, Coverage will be in full swing on all channels by then.

I wouldn't exactly say full swing, it will probably only just be starting on ITV. Daybreak and Lorraine might do coverage but they'll be more concerned with what dresses the guests are wearing and how viewers can recreate the look by shopping at Primark.

Given that day will be a bank holiday isn't 11am a litte early for the wedding?

Edit: And that this will impact on the ratings.

The reason for the bank holiday is the wedding so I don't think the time will really matter. If people want to watch it, they won't be fussed by the time!

I did think it would be early afternoon, so there is ample time for lots of build up.

I'd be surprised if the BBC didn't also comment on who was wearing 'who', and spotting which celebrities were turning up etc.
