The EPG is updated once the schedule has been decided which no doubt is changing all the time. It's not a direct feed from the channel controller's brain.

Why would the schedule be changing? Anyway, the problem isn't that the EPG is out of date, the problem is that it is displaying nonsense that will never happen. I can't believe there was ever a time when anyone at the BBC was considering delaying the News at Ten or cutting 30 minutes from Long Live Britain yet that is what the EPG says.

Because they will update the here-and-now (the most important part) and then worry about what happens afterwards once it's been decided, meaning you end up with the odd anomaly such as 60' slots truncated to 30' while that is being decided and implemented. It really isn't that complicated.

Looks like non of the BBC outside broadcast is in HD, a moment in history captured in upscaled SD.

Agreed. And it's worth pointing out that often, these News Specials are referred to as 'Open Enders' meaning they go on air, with no decision having been taken by the network as to when they will come off air. The EPGs are simply reflecting a fairly fluid situation.

I wonder if ITV will have a break before NaT or if they'll just go straight into it at 10pm.

Amazed how seamless BBC1 was. Literally announced the moment they went to the news channel simulcast, who prior to that were reporting that "an announcement will be made shortly". Look suspiciously like an 8.30pm embargo but worked very much in the Beeb's favour, they'll be getting huge ratings for this off the back of EastEnders,

I'm not at work tonight so don't know what happened but from watching it looked as if it business as usual at the end of EastEnders and the news that there would be an announcement came during the junction, I'm guessing it was a late call (the long symbol is a bit of a clue) so it's good that it looked seamless.

A lot of pooled cameras were used in the coverage tonight, like the shot of the easel and the use of the Sky News helicopter across all channels (apparently the plan was for it to scramble at short notice to follow the car carrying the announcement from the hospital to the palace, but I'm not sure it got there in time for that).

Yep, exactly that - deal with the current programme first, once that's sorted then go on to what is known about the rest of the night's schedule. Particularly tricky night in that regard because the 2235 prog is part two of what was scheduled for 2100. There's a royal baby documentary ready to go so I assume that'll be on.

I think they'll have to ... if only to allow the presenters time to get into position etc.

Well there is two keyboards sitting there so I'm guessing Mark is coming in at some point.

I wonder if Mark is actually out and about somewhere, doesn't look like the commercials are coming...
