Baby born at 4.24pm...announment held back for peak time?
I doubt the BBC have enough sway with the Palace to have them wait until the end of EastEnders to inform the nation . . .
I'm not saying BBC had any say in the timing of the announment. If they did Sophie would have been ready. I'm saying the place held it back for peak time.
Amazed how seamless BBC1 was. Literally announced the moment they went to the news channel simulcast, who prior to that were reporting that "an announcement will be made shortly". Look suspiciously like an 8.30pm embargo but worked very much in the Beeb's favour, they'll be getting huge ratings for this off the back of EastEnders,

And this is why we need the ITV News Channel back, but that will never happen in a million years.
RIP ITV News Channel
Excellent from BBC One Pres team. They will have been obviously on standby but given the short notice it was seamless - didn't think there would be any news after the standard VO over the EastEnders credits but the long ident after was a bit of a giveaway.
Was quite impressed with the matter-of-fact ITV News coverage until they were cut off!

... they kind of do, or at least the Palace will have been well aware that there would have been a large audience watching BBC1 at 8:30 a anyway.
Indeed I don't think the 8.30pm announcement was an accident.
I think it was clear about from about 8.20pm an announment was coming.

I know this is bad to say, but this is a very, very nice lift after watching a very moving Corrie..
ITV News' first attempt of breaking the news....

The only thing that has let BBC One down is the EPG again. Why have they still got Long Live Britain on at 21:30? The only way they can show it then Is if they delay the BBC News at Ten by 30 minutes. That is obviously not going to happen today. Why not just remove Long Live Britain and schedule the BBC News Special until 22:00?
TW
On Freeview, "ITV NEWS" is scheduled until 21:30, and then Long Long Family until 10? Will 30mins of LLF be cut off?
DA
Why would the schedule be changing? Anyway, the problem isn't that the EPG is out of date, the problem is that it is displaying nonsense that will never happen. I can't believe there was ever a time when anyone at the BBC was considering delaying the News at Ten or cutting 30 minutes from Long Live Britain yet that is what the EPG says.
The EPG is updated once the schedule has been decided which no doubt is changing all the time. It's not a direct feed from the channel controller's brain.
