BBC World showing News at 10 but it opted out before the rest of the headlines were read out. They played their opening with a very long music in the end and then short cut to Martine Croxall and then to Fiona who already started talking.
I wonder if something went wrong with the line to Buck Palace - the titles stayed on the end board for ages, and the BBC News logo wasn't faded down. It's also not really the norm to go straight to the studio on stories like this.
Certainly not disputing the ability of Annita McVeigh, but a little surprising that the BBC didn't have a top-name anchor standing ready to break the news on BBC One. The press release was issued just seconds before 2030, so presumably it was a very quick decision to break in to BBC One.
Well, News At Ten could've got off to a better start. David Cameron VT playing over Fiona Bruce's out words, then titles cutting in over her "also tonight...", then cutting back to Fiona from the studio half-way into the start of her sentence. Good stuff.
Oh, was it just News Channel then?
They are also showing the News at Ten on BBC World News and first Fiona Bruce opened the news then they cut her whilst she was talking and showed the titles then Martine Croxall started presenting. They kept saying "tonight" so did UK viewers see the same thing?

Same on the news channel. Not sure how it looked on BBC One. I reckon they'll need to review the Similcast situation. I thought Katty Kay was back in London specifically for the event?
Piecing it all together, it looks like BBC One stayed with the rest of the headlines, did the titles and went straight to Fiona Bruce, but NC and World cut from the other headlines, not being relevant to world viewers, and played the titles and had a presenter in C to quickly summarise the story before joining Fiona Bruce.
My impression is that they did it for World, I mean cutting off the rest of the UK top stories and having a long opening. Not sure why it ended up on NC as well, I guess the control room mistake.

I think that's what they were planning to do. Just made a bit of a dogs dinner of it.
