Or come back to BBC1 at 5:10 as they only have the film Wall-E between then and the scheduled early evening news at 6:40 so (if rumored) they do come out tonight, that would be a good time to do it.

ITV News have interrupted normal programming and won't be going off air until we see "The nations first sighting of the new royal baby".

It know it makes sense theoretically and financially for BBC One to cross to the News Channel for the rare occasions that they carry breaking news, but the last few times it's been very messy.

Kylie Pentalow was scheduled for the ITV News bulletins today, instead Mary Nightingale is doing them. Kylie is now reporting from Kensington Palace as a result.

ITV expecting her to leave in about 20 minutes so I'd be surprised if BBC1 didn't cut to the news at 5.10pm.

I do think one thing an event like this highlights is how strong the main four presenters at ITV News are and what an asset it is to them to have a team of presenters who are pretty much on an equal footing. With the BBC News it's very much Huw and then everyone else at the moment.

I noticed they didn't put a senior presenter on this morning as duty presenter Lucrezia Millarini did the newsflash.
