Just announced by a newsflash on the NC and BBC1 By Maxine Mawhinney and Nick Witchell that it's a girl born at 8:34 this morning, much earlier than last time round.

Well, that was hectic! James Martin announcing on Saturday Kitchen that we're going into a film about Italy, before then saying we're going to the news, before apparently being told that they aren't going to the news yet! Then the film starts briefly, but then finally we cut straight to the BBC News Channel and Nicholas Witchell mid-report.

Was certainly far from smooth. Ideally the Saturday Kitchen sting would have run without the film starting, allowing them to crash into the news channel better.

Special Progamme going out on the NC (And probably BBC1) in the next few minutes.

In a few years time if we're all waiting for the third child, keep an eye for a female presenter from Northern Ireland on the News Channel. Odds on it'll be born during their shift . . .

Looks like that's it for Saturday Kitchen today.

Yep, BBC One joining BBC News at 11:30, Saturday Kitchen finished at its usual time. The EPG on Freeview has already been updated to replace Paul Hollywood's Bread with a "BBC News Special", leading into the regular 10 minute bulletin scheduled at 12:00.

A nice little BBC One baby sting after Saturday Kitchen.

Announcer thought she was on BBC Two, and the ident wasn't what you'd usually get into the news, obviously the one already scheduled in the system.

I heard the announcement on LBC London News, put it straight on the NC with "It's a Girl" flashing on the lower thirds to a shot of the Lindo Wing doors.

Yeah, the space one. A little slip up too with the introduction saying her brother is Prince Charles. Looks like the speed of it and a bank holiday weekend caught everyone a little off guard.

Did ITV News do an announcement? ITV finally got to show the It's a Girl ident at 11.25am.

The BBC are still saying Tony Appleton is an official town crier, even though their website rightly says he isn't
