Seeing as we had a dedicated thread the last time this happened, I thought it would be good idea to make a new one this time.

As with last time, Nicholas Witchell is already outside the Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital reporting on BBC Breakfast.

Do we think the main channels will interrupt their normal programming as with last time, or will they just wait for their usual bulletins?

Didn't BBC One crash out of a One Show (summer prerec version) straight to the News Channel, no continuity or even a mix through black, last time?

Last time, the news was announced at 8:30pm which was just after Eastenders had finished and before the following program had began.

An interesting difference this time-The last Royal baby watch happened on a Monday/Tuesday where as this one is happening on a Bank Holiday Weekend.

When the Announcement happened last time, Annita McVeigh made it outside the Lido wing before Sophie Raworth then launched into a progamme which took us to the Ten with Fiona Bruce both from outside Buckingham Palace.

Don't think it was, I recall the ITV Evening News was extended until 7:30 with Emmerdale pushed back?

That was the Tuesday when they left and stood outside the Lido Wing for the World's press.

ITV will go to a 30-second news flash once the birth is announced - but only at the next available programme junction or ad break (so no interruption to the normal schedule for now). Not sure about other channels though ...

BBC News in the studio, Sky News live from the Lindo Wing. God knows why Sky have got 'BREAKING NEWS - DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE IN LABOUR AND ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL' running along the ticker continuously. Why not put the other stories that aren't being covered in the ticker?

If they announce it a similar time, around 8.30, then presumably it will be easy enough for BBC One to wait for Atlantis to end and postpone the National Lottery? I can't imagine too many people will be upset at missing it.

The day the baby was born back in 2013, Coronation Street began at 8:30 without a newsflash, in the break of Corrie at 8:45 a short 30 second newsflash with Mary was given before going back to the cobbles. At 9, they returned for an hour of baby with Mary, before going straight to the News at 10 with Mary and Mark

The timing worked out very nicely for BBC Breakfast this morning, and they were able to get an instant reaction from David Cameron who was on the sofa.

Well, that was hectic! James Martin announcing on Saturday Kitchen that we're going into a film about Italy, before then saying we're going to the news, before apparently being told that they aren't going to the news yet! Then the film starts briefly, but then finally we cut straight to the BBC News Channel and Nicholas Witchell mid-report.
