I do think though he is excellent on the election coverage - he's been doing it a decade or so in Wales and I usually watch him over Dimbleby.

I'd have gone for Kirsty Young personally, I think she would suit the 'mega-anchor' role perfectly. In fact, why she's not on the news anyway I've no idea.

Maybe she doesn't, you're right. But she is a journalist who has worked her way up from local to national news - surely a top job at BBC News is *any* broadcast journalist's ultimate dream?

I do actually agree with what you say re the 'mega-anchor' role; wonder if she was asked to do news.
