Ah, I forgot about ITV1+1. Good thing DrewF remembered.

My tuner chose the ideal moment to conk out - it's working again now, typically, so I can try and record the News at Ten segment or VirginMediaPhil can do the same.

I think it kind of says it all about ITV News today that on a day where a News at Ten legend has passed away the News at Ten is bumped to 10.30pm to make way for a light entertainment show.

Not sure if this is playable outside the UK, but the ITV News tribute from the website: http://vimeo.com/46097021

Great to have Alastair Stewart on the voiceover.

Agreed, using Alastair Stewart's voiceover, and re-writing the script have transformed the obituary into a very fitting tribute.

You're misinformed. The scheduling of the bulletin tonight has nothing at all to do with ITV News or ITN.

I wouldn't use the word "misinformed", Matt. I would say that Brekkie is pointing out that the ITV Network moving fixed bulletins around the schedule for cheap talent shows is doing the ITV News brand no favours. I'm sure if it was up to the team at ITN, their bulletins would be on at normal times all year round.

Yes Brekkie it is rather "bittersweet" (is that the right word?!) that Alastair has passed away not just 45 years to the month that News at Ten launched, but in a week where it is not actually on. It's also rather sad that the ITN of Alastair's time is no longer the same ITN of today.

I think he is referring to ITV1's dubious scheduling rather than criticising anyone at ITV News/ITN. (EDIT: what GMC said!! Laughing )

I didn't suggest it did.

I think that tonight, the news should be forced on at 10. No choice. I don't mind the occasional bulliten being pushed back or brough forwarded, or even dropped, if it's for something worth it! Even the final of BGT could push it back(if the shows decent that year!!!) but not for a televised audition process for ONE role!!

Well (at the risk of veering well off-topic...), I think it was to ensure that all the 8:30pm episodes of Coronation Street remain at that time. The soaps have had a hard time of it lately thanks to football coverage and there seems to be a lot of episodes to catch up on.

Having said that - I consider news to be more of a priority, especially after the whole "News at Ten is back" fanfare, but the soaps are more lucrative in terms of advertising than news on ITV these days.

But then they always put some sh*t filler between the two Corrie episodes, very rarely is it something good! Even putting it as a double episode, just call it a special and leave the news alone!
