The man oozed gravitas with every bulletin.

Indeed he did. It's a shame ITN's tribute (as posted on You Tube) seems to be scripted and voiced by someone with no gravitas at all, very poor, I hope it's improved on later ITN bulletins tonight.

I was rather too young to remember him (he retired when I was 6) but from watching clips on YouTube, he was an absolute professional, and to be honest, there will NEVER be anyone else like him.

That's it tonight... goodnight.

Rest in Peace.

Just watched the BBC tribute which included the News at 10 end music.

Lots of clips of him on ITN News just now. There was lots of him behind a green screen.

Fantastic tribute at the end of tonight's news. I think Alastair Stewart held up well at the end of the news as well.

Any chance someone could post it onto Youtube? I'm unable to access the ITV News content from here. It's not made available to viewers overseas.

Many thanks in advance. X

Really? It works for me here in Slovenia. Perhaps it's just blocked in countries outside the EU?

EDIT: Never mind. I thought you were referring to ITN's official channel on YouTube, from where the obituary clip on the previous page was posted. I suppose you meant ITV News' own site, right? That's blocked for me too.

I will record the News at Ten tributes if you want and then upload them later if that is okay? Smile

Seeing as I'm making a post here, it only seems right to pay my condolences. Unfortunately, I grew up watching news bulletins long after Sir Alastair retired and so did not see his newsreading first-hand. I have watched videos through YouTube after reading about him however and I will echo all of the other posters here saying what a professional newsreader he was - and these are only through clips and not full bulletins. I initially was unsure if I should make a post in here because I was not fully aware of him, but I don't think it would be right to post in here responding to someone else without offering a tribute. Rest in peace.

I will try and capture it on ITV1 +1 and then upload it to Youtube BBC WORLD - because you and many others will probably have missed it.

Ah, I forgot about ITV1+1. Good thing DrewF remembered.
