One mustn't forget his strong association with classical music, either - in particular, his many years presenting the Last Night of the Proms:

Comedy aside, I really liked Richard Baker’s style of presentation.

I know he wasn’t a trained “journalist”. But nevertheless, he could handle an interview with ease.

There’s no-one left from that era now.

Richard’s son Andrew will be one of Luke Jones’ guests on PM at 5.

The days when RP worked for a presenter even if they weren't a journalist. I miss the authority those chaps had.

Apparently he used to collate items from the newspapers and read his own 6 o clock news to his friends in his nursing home
