Good to see the wonderful people of Paisley living up to their reputation. Mike Edwards was trying to do a live link to Scotland Today about the recent stabbings (5 people stabbed, one person arrested and charged in connection, therefore sod all else we can say about it) and had a shower of neds (chavs for those of you down south) shouting all over it. It included the classic moment when he said "The man will appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday" which was responded to with "Paisley Sheriff Court is full of dafties", presumably from someone who knows it quite well. He did plough on heroically, although he was stumbling over the odd word here and there, probably because he couldn't hear himself.

Could have been worse I suppose - there wasn't any swearing, or anything that could have had them hauled up for Contempt of Court.

Is it not about time something was done to stop idiots wrecking live broadcasts though? I suppose the only thing you could do is arrange a bouncer to drag people away, or get a police presence, but both would presumably cost cheap old SMG some money. Broadcasters do need to do something though. The day people just jumped around in the background when a TV camera is about is over, and anything could happen next.

Yes, I saw that yesterday. I think it was very professional of Mike to continue reporting.

Is he (Mike Edwards) still there at STV? He must now be one of the longest serving STV news reporters. When I was back a few weeks ago, I didn't recognise anyone at all hardly (except, of course, SN).

There was someone called Lindsay something-or-other, who presented the breakfast bulletins and also reported for Lunchtime. What's her name and how long has she been there? From memory, it was Loraine Weber who used to present when I last lived in the UK. Where is she now?

Lindsey Raeburn was on breakfast bulletins this week and Loraine Webber is on maternity leave at the moment.

Interesting format today. Wide shot, David talks for two seconds while Jackie looks fabulous, then it focuses on Jackie and she introduces the actual story fabulously.

Still think the standing is crap though.

I just received a rather unexpected message by text from the SECC Tsunami Concert in Glasgow.

"Shereen Nanjiani is checking me oot", says my (admitedly handsome) friend.

Well I never.

Is it just me, or is Shereen looking YOUNGER by the week. She looked stunning on Scotsport SPL last week. It is a pity she could not get a word in edgeways for her friend.
I am looking forward to the Tsunami Concert highlights programme tonight on Grampian and Scottish at 11.30 p.m. I heard Deacon Blue went down a storm.
The News team must be covering the behind the scenes prog that will air tomorrow, as Johnny boy did a trailer for Seven Days.

It's a pity that the TC didn't cue the mini disk properly going into the show the dull lifeless no tone of mood announcement from Annie (yawn)Scott ran into the opening titles .

Shereen is my favourite at STV and yes she does look great at the moment. She has the ability to realy connect with viewers she doesn't have an ego unlike the others there.

Still a good example of why we need to hope any takeover by ITV PLC takes as long as possible. Could you see a future ITV1 Scotland opting out of the network for a programme like this? The media types in M25-land probably couldn't even point to Scotland on a map. Just look at the farcical subtitling on BBC2 right now for proof of how much of a foreign country Scotland seems to the morons that run network television in this country.

Yes, that was bad.

There will be 4 commercial breaks during the concert, as the edit clock told us we are now in part 2 of 5. Laughing Laughing
For those confused when Deacon Blue were playing , yes that was the BBC sports presenter Dougie Vipond on drums, and Alice from River City singing. Laughing

Could they really not sell any adverts? We had one trail and then straight back into the programme. If they felt it was wrong to play adverts during the programme, due to tone or whatever, then they could have donated the money they received to the charity if required (in the same mould as UK Radio Aid).

And Dougie Vipond should stick to being a drummer... Razz

Hmm.... we had ads in that break, so presumably SMG just couldn't sell any last time around. Bizarre.

Either that or it would have sent them over some quota.
