Just been informed that we are the last BBC region to get new opening titles. Now that Wales Today has a new look, we're last as usual. The set may have changed but the opening has been the same since ...wait for it... 1999!!

Maybe...like STV and Grampian (who don't want to be part of the ITV family) we want to be outdated and behind the times. Confused The network titles are far better than SMG stations. A hazey map with a programme name appearing how imaginative Laughing

Or perhaps we're waiting to get our Scottish Six and Scottish News at 10.30. Canny wait!!

Welcome aboard Anne MacKenzie fan.

Regarding the titles - lest we forget the short version still has Northern Irish place names like Londonderry in the background. Mind you, the problems with Reporting Scotland go way beyond the intro...

NI place names really? That is bad. Does BBC Look North have place names in the background like BBC London News? I didnt realise BBC London had them in the background on the end part of the titles until last year, it would look better without them.

Is it my imagination, or did the Reporting Scotland titles get a splash of purple a couple of years ago? Either way, RS has had the same titles for six years - that's as long as the Virtual Era ran for the BBC1 news!

Yes, it was updated last year to go along with the new studio. Nothing drastic unfortunately...

Guilty as charged my lord.

They changed from purple to red. Oddly enough Scotland Today has done the opposite...with their new titles purple.

Poor Jackie...her programme is so yesterday!! Crying or Very sad

One would expect not until they move to their new place.

I thought we were talking in a few months or weeks, not 1 - 2 years. It would make sense to wait until the move, but the BBC is in the habit of doing things in stages.

Well at least Midlands Today can't be accused of RS's set but yes the beeb have a wonderful habit of relaunching in satges. MT had two new launches before they moved to the Mailbox, and another relaunch. Not that im complaining, Midlands Today has possibly the best studio/presenters in the BBC. only yesterday the titles were updated with new footage from around the region.
I really do hope RS changes soon. Ive only seen about 10 minutes of it. It was truly well....tense. I female presenter, Jackie I beleive kept giving the man, sorry no idea as to his name the dirty look and the studio is the worst rehash of an already rubbish backdrop. The titles will probably go down the Wales Today route which I suppose will be an improvement.
Just out of interest where does RS currently come from for us Middle England folk?

Hello there Middle England. I have seen MT since it moved into the city centre of Brum, and it looks 'well snazzy.'

Rep Scot is from Glasgow. BBC Scotland's headquarters are based near Queen Margaret Drive in the West End (very pooosh!!)

It is very dated. I have been there on work experience and it is a massive building. BBC Scotland's new H.Q. is meant to be even bigger. Check out the BBC Scotland homepage - Pacific Quay.

I understand it is due to open 2007.
