Are the wall pannels only a colour by virtue of lighting? Or are thay actually plasma/projection screens (or something)? If not, then the physical effort of having to replace red panels with purple one for Newsnight would be a bit of a chore.

Apart from the two video projection screens, the rest of the set has just white panels which are lit to the appropriate colour from behind.
It's almost as if they are preparing for a "
Scottish Six" if the SNP wins in May.
Wouldn't happen. Broadcasting is reserved to Westminster, and even then a government can't force a TV channel when to have news on - even though they can try. Remember the stink when ITV scrapped News at Ten? Still went ahead though.

but the BBC is owned by the government,
I would expect BBC Scotland to be controlled by Scotland.

I like the red better than the blue!
The BBC is not owned by the Government, it is independent. Don't expect a Scottish Six any time soon, might have looked good on paper, wouldn't work well in reality. Plus with a move to more on demand services, and less focus on fixed bulletins in general, the Scottish Six is an even more redundant idea.
