I quite like the new set, although maybe the backing could be made a bit more square rather than half an octagon or whatever shape its called. The titles are a bit dated now and it would be good if they changed them but kept the same music, cos I do quite like it. I really don't see why people are all bitching about it to be honest!
When BBC Scotland finally move to their new building, I wonder whether the
Reporting Scotland
/
Newsnight Scotland
shared-studio/set will be yet another copy of the N6/TC7 "shoebox" set? This would allow
Newsnight Scotland
to look
exactly
like its network sibling.
Well, it's certainly an improvement for there to actually be furniture! Sadly, though, all the red serves to further highlight how hideously out-of-date the predominantly blue 1999-style titles are.
The desk style and "baking tray" platform are indeed indicative of being rather "N6"-inspired. One wonders why they even bothered, given that they'll be moving so soon. Then again, it could be a "halfway house" between the previous furniture-less style, and whatever set will be waiting for them at the new building. E.g. (as someone has already suggested) maybe, say, that exact same desk and platform will be moved to the new building/studio/set, when the time comes.
I think that titles a bit like the current Wales Today ones (i.e. pseudo-"BBC National News" style, but with the "globe" showing just Scotland) would be a really nice idea.
Well it's an improvement on the blue look, but the graphics are so out of date and do not match. Hope that set is not going to be transported to Pacific Quay!!!
I think it's an improvement, but a bit of a mish-mash. Still, nice to see the end of that awful fake (and empty) newsroom graphic behind them.
Thanks Ant for those caps - here's a few more which I caught from the end of tonight's bulletin.
Wow what a big improvement .I like it but not enough to actually watch RPS .If only they would change the style it's just to twee for me .Even Borders Lookaround is better than RPS and that is saying something.
:-(
A former member
RPS will never change it would NEED a major Overhaul to bring it to the standard of Scotland today
The look is def a lot nicer, and it just shows what a different the change has made. The cameras giving the wider view however, makes Jackie & David look like two chickens cooped up in a pen than a News Studio. It's also been a while since they produced the slightly longer intro titles eh? Good to see them back, no matter how old they are.
I don't know about anyone else but has anyone noticed that Rhona is starting to copy former Scotland Today Sportcaster Jane Lewis on the sports desk a bit?
The studio must be very little (can anyone confirm) as they seem very cramped up.......when the woman started to do her sport bit you could see David lean back on his chair as to sort of get out of the shot??
It is better than it was but for the countrys main networked news programme its pathetic!!!

What do you want them to do? Build a new studio...? Oh wait they already are

Calm down, calm down - I was only making an observation!!! I, unlike you, have no knowledge of the size of the present RS studio thats all!!!
