I'm not good on the technical terms, which is probably causing me to not explain myself properly. The side panels don't have projection/video screens on them - any images which appear there are superimposed on. I was commenting on how I am impressed that they've now got this to reflect on the desk as in the past you would just see a red patch reflected on the desk. Even now, despite there being no red wall 'on screen', with it being covered by a computer image - there is still a reddish light reflecting onto the desk area.

If there is enough red reflected in the desk then you should be able to get a key off it (though CSO from Red is unusual as it is much closer to flesh - and lip - tone than CSO Green or CSO Blue) and then as long as you can fix the camera angle you can DVE in a reflection of the image in the main panel.

ITN's "Theatre of News" VR set does this to key in desk reflections.

I watched Reporting Scotland today, and how much better do the screens look than the National set's?

I don't know if it's rear projection BBC Scotland use, but it looks fantastic. Heather doing the weather had no gaps, no different contrasts between screens etc.

The side "screens" are also very well done. If I hadn't read on here they were CSO, I wouldn't have known.

My only concern is the layout of what's on the screens at the back. The two from the left had the Clyde-cam whereas the third had a still from the titles. It didn't look good at all. Surely having three of the screens with the Clyde-cam on it would look so much better?

The three screens at the back are rear projection using 3-chip HD Christie projectors. They're fed by the same system as in TC7 and N6 in London, Geevs MR+.

Did anyone see or capture Thursday's edition?

Didn't see it myself but heard it was cock up central at the start, with no titles or music, and Sally having to look frantically for scripts on the desk as the autocue was playing up a bit... Rolling Eyes

Much like the BBC News at One then, or was that Friday?

Why?

Even if Scotland Today is your favourite, don't you think that just comes off as a bit, well, childish?

There's really no need.

I'd say his suggestion to those in England to watch scotland today rather than moan about ITV cutbacks is probably the most ridiculous he's came out with
