I was led to believe that due to the fact that they only have one bulletin on Saturday, Saturdays are much less staffed than even Sundays? Notice how on Sunday the proper studio is used, along with weather forecasters, whereas Saturday uses the 'Newsnight Scotland replacement set' and no weather forecaster - I guess for one 5 minute bulletin its just not cost effective?

Fair enough, but they could have a map at least with the news reader voicing over, instead of a set of large words which are meant to sum up the weather for the whole nation.

The main studio is not normally used on Saturdays as it is being used by Sport and the turnaround is too tight, there's no staffing differences. The weather on the Sunday is supplied by London, as the bulletin is a slightly longer duration.

Again - fair enough, but they could at least be a bit more descriptive with their words ( or more detailed at least ).

So where does the Politics show scotland come form, and better question is where is Holyrood programme?

I have to agreee with the comments it is a bit of a joke if all there can do is some words even STV has a map!

Holyrood comes from The Tun, at the bottom of the Royal Mile opposite the Parliament.

...As does PSS IIRC.

Apparently Pacific Quay was evacuated due to a fire alarm earlier today, which mean BBC London News went out until Jackie Bird popped up at about 6.50 with a much shortened Reporting Scotland.

Was there any apology? I started watching but turned off because I thought it was just a BBC Scotland mistake. As if they'd any of those... Wink

Indeed there was. It was mentioned that there was 'a techical problem' and Jackie apologised twice in the programme itself.

Snazzy little reporting scotland/bbc one graphic used as well during the mid-programme break from London.

I take it the RS Autocues are down AGAIN tonight.....

Newsnight Scotland by-election special on BBC2 at 11, coming live from the 3rd floor "street" at PQ, should be fun.

I noticed that last night BBC Two Scotland ditched the London edition of Newsnight altogether, in favour of a fully seperate Newsnight Scotland from 10:30pm!

And it was on for 60 minutes, meaning that The Culture Show etc was screened 10-minutes behind Network schedule.

Some bizarre subtitling going on today at the 3 o'clock ish bulletin. ( I was in the gym and the subtitles were on! )

In the story about the SPL rights the subtitles said ewart had gained the rights to football. This was corrected later on to UTV.

Also during the story about the stranded whale dying the subtitles said santas were going to investigate Very Happy Presumably scientists? They didn't even bother correcting this one.
