There was obviously a " glitch " during the 6.18pm regional headline opt out tonight during the Six O' Clock News. Instead of the usual headlines from the RS studio, there was a holding caption, with the continuity announcer making an announcement about Reporting Scotland being on in 15 minutes. No background " drum beats " either, and it looked like BBC Scotland's usual unprofessional self.
I hear there was a rather untimely sound mixer crash in the studio.

Incidentally, I'm not sure if it's been mentioned here so far - the red panels at the side of set are just that - the studio isn't wide enough to allow for projectors behind them. Anything you see on there is a sneaky mix of chromakey and DVE.

I think the studio is pretty uninspired considering the move to the new building. I suppose at least it's not as uninspired as the title sequence Rolling Eyes

I can't believe that the BBC News online's Scotland segment has the wedding of newscaster Jackie Bird as one of their leading stories. When I viewed it a few moments ago, it was third in the running order. Whilst this event may be of interest to the public, it is hardly breaking news!!

However, congratulations Jackie! All the very best for the future.

Anyone remember the formidable figures of Allan Caldwell, Ken Bryson and Nicholas Cowie?

Where are they all now?

Ken Bryson's the planning editor at Scotland Today, and very much one of the programmes' secret weapons. He was featured recently in a Real MacKay video blog on the stv website

Just five words about Reporting Scotland's Christmas output...

What the hell was that?

Seriously, if you don't have any news, or (more likely) can't be arsed finding any, then put the testcard up for 10 minutes.

Ukelele updates? Ballroom dancing in Scotland? And a press release on blood donors? Christ.

...and the Ukelele player was the son of a senior BBC reporter. Hmm.
