So you clearly know something about the re-launch! I understand you can't divulge much but give us some info! Are we getting a window overlooking Glasgow?
None of the studios at Pacific Quay will have (real) windows on the world.

Indeed, although there are numerous plug-in points so that programmes / contributions can come from all over the building

I am sure it will look brand new but wonder if the programme itself will change. Are there any plans to have localised opt outs ala stv?

Plans for local tv are still to be considered by the BBC Trust following the Birmingham trial and are also being reconsidered following the licence fee settlement.

..and, being a big glass box, there's pretty much nowhere in the building that doesn't have a nice view of the Clyde. (Even the technical areas, which you'd usually find in a big windowless room in the basement)

Noticed RS had Evan Davis on tonight. The BBC's economics editor was on set taking us through devolution v's independance. The conclusion... you guessed it...inconclusive, thanks for that! well worth the effort getting him all the way up here then. Suppose it made a change having someone on set that could actually read their monologue from the autocue and point to the screen at the right times.

Nah, I normally jump on Reporting Scotland's back, so when they do something different and I like it I have to back them.

I liked the report - interesting and balanced, as opposed to some of the more (predictable) hysteria in the tabloids up here at the moment. I presume Evan would have been up here covering this for the network anyway, so therefore there would have been no extra expense.

Nah, I'll stick to criticising Reporting Shetland about the fact their news agenda resembles more what you would expect of North Tonight (the sheer box-ticking effort to get stories from areas where nothing happens is slightly concerning) and their fascinating expose into .... lost 1p pieces down the back of sofas. Jesus.

"Still to come on Scotland's most watched news programme......."

Hey sounded good. UNTIL, the next line was:

"....the latest sighting of Nessie"

.....jesus christ! is there no proper news out there?? Shocked

That's fine if you can watch Scotland Today - remember that those in the Borders get ITV1 Border and, therefore, Lookaround (typical headline: "Today a sheep farted on the Cumbrian Fells") with its pathetic coverage of southern Scotland.

Would the south of Scotland be covered better with stv? Does BBC Scotland cover the south of Scotland well at the moment?

No, in a nutshell.

The truth is though broder does a great job with the large and varying patch it covers, and little resources it has. Could do better though, but it has to be accepted that outside the major towns and cities in the region the perceived "big" stories are few and far between.
