One thing I forgot to mention is that the most recent edition of the programme that I saw (back in April of this year, on a rare visit to the UK) was presented by Sally Magnusson and David (not Robertson - tall guy, is it Henderson)??

Although he was a bit wooden, he was actually very good, as was Sally. In fact, they both almost made this stand-up bulletin watchable. I have to admit though, Sally did look a bit uncomfortable standing - she needs to be behinbd a desk I think.

Personally I think Reporting Scotland should have a massive clear out!

Out of everyone I would only keep Sally Magnason!

I would like to see John MacKay come back from Scotland Today to Reporting Scotland and have Sally and him on 5 Days! I know its Unlikly but the BBC need to do somthing FAST!

I wonder if they will ever poach Shereen? That would make the thing watchable.

You two are showing Jackie (the) Bird serious disrespect.

She *is* BBC Scotland.

Reporting Scotland will never be watchable until:

1. They stop blindly reading out Scottish Executive press releases.
2. They stop doing five minutes on a new type of bird in the Orkney Islands, and 30 seconds on a murder trial in Glasgow, in a desperate bid to box tick.
3. They actually learn how to do 'and finallys', as opposed to giving us some tedious upper-class Scottish Ballet nonsense.
4. They gain some of the raw, more interesting and more close to the action reporting of Scotland Today. Because at the moment, it feels like, for every story, they are simply reading out a press release. The Orange Order report the other night was a prime example of this. Reports of riots, so what do we get? A few talking heads, ancient file footage of a peaceful march, pictures of empty streets, and ... um... that's it.

Reporting Scotland is a tedious unwatchable shambles right now. You'd get better reporting in the most parochial local newspaper in the highlands.

well done! Thats exactley what it needs! Personally i do feel it wont be anywhere near half decent until they have limited or no standing up news at all. In the current studio, why cannot they fir a small plum red sofa with n24 or n6 style desk which could house the main and sports news? Also, why cant heather or gail present the weather from the second plasma? The current situation makes no sense. Then the backdrop could be of a fixed camshot in the *real* newsroom and the samll set in the nr could have the same look so that a better continuity can be introduced. Then Scotland will have a half-decent programme. Although personally I feel they would make no studio changes till the big PQ move in 2 years.... Confused Arrow Cool
