On the reverse front, Adrian Finighan, anchor with BBC World, is now back reporting on the markets, albeit on CNNI.

Lyse Doucet is another perfect example of someone who has seamlessly gone from reporter to anchor (as have Alagiah, Buerk, Edwards, Stourton, Witchell, and countless others).

The BBC's Claire Marshall comes across as a good potential newscaster. As does Jonathan Head, IMO.

Geoghegan?

Well Ben Geoghegan presented for a couple of years on News 24. He was the launch presenter of the 0900-1200 strand with Jackie Hardgrave Mon-Thur, and Anastasia Cooke on Friday.

Damian Grammaticas used to present when he was at Look East. He presented Breakfast bulletins in Norwich, and the 2128 late bullletin when he was in Cambridge.

He moved to News 24 as a production journalist when it launched, and quickly became one of their reporters, alongside Daniela Relph, prior to his move to Hong Kong and then Moscow.

What about Matt Barbet from BBC London?

Ohh radio, please!

He's a reporter for BBC London on TV and newsreader mainly in the evening summary programme after the Ten O'Clock News.

Well Tim presented the News 24 editions of Liquid News for quite a while, as did Emma Jones (now Entertainment reporting)...

She's done some occasional presenting stints on News 24 as well in the last couple of years.

My God!! There is one very obvious choice that I have overlooked, and only realised when I saw him reporting from NYC a few moments ago.

Mr. Brian Barron!

A kinda elder statesman of TV News, but he would be great as the senior anchor of a CBS-esque version of the BBC News at Ten, as opposed to the very lightweight Huw Edwards.

(Ducks to avoid bullets and darts thrown at me..................)

Maybe it's me, but I have seen Lyse Doucet presenting the news, and I don't think she is really up to the job on BBC World. Maybe it's the accent. I always think Martine Dennis (sp?) is better than her. Where is she, BTW?

I saw Martine on The World Today yesterday morning. Didnt check this morning to see if she did the same shift today.

I have not seen her on BBC World for ages (I live in America, and I watch it on my Public Broadcasting Station). David Jessel has been doing the news for a long time now. Quite unusual. Usually, it is Martine Dennis or Lyse Doucet doing the main news.
