Remembrance 2020

Few observations:

- Reuters taking the BBC Studios cut
- AP taking the Sky unilateral pool
- News Channel taking the BBC Studios cut
- Many of the Sky Sports channels opting in for the silence at 11pm

As usual, the BBC Studios feed has the slightly better camera angles / shots (and a cleaner shot of the face of Big Ben), but missed the Queen walking onto the balcony.

Channel 5 also broadcast a short broadcast of the 11am 2 mins. (Channel 5 usually does this)
My contribution is small but you are welcome.

AP taking the Sky unilateral pool

Aren't 'unilateral' and 'pool' two separate things? It's one or the other, surely?

Well in this case it’s Sky producing the unilateral feed on behalf of the other broadcasters, so I think it’s fair to use both terms.

Sorry to be pedantic, but I don’t think it’s possible for a feed to be both ‘pool’ and ‘unilateral’ at the same time.

If Sky are producing a feed on behalf of other broadcasters it is by definition, a ‘pool’ feed.

Whereas many newsrooms use ‘unilateral’ as a specific term to distinguish any additional cameras which individual broadcasters may deploy to an event for their own use, above and beyond the presence of a pool camera.

Just think the clarification is worth pointing out as it’s quite a common occurrence these days and other forum users might be interested to know.

Fair enough! The definitions are increasingly blurred these days.
