Is it a major news event though? It's mostly ceremonial.
This state opening is unique:
First, it is the first state opening of parliament since June 2017, that is the longest gap we have had.
Second we have the whole issues of the legality of the original prorogation.
Third, it is a Queen's Speech which looks like it will fail to pass the House of Commons, so we will be getting a list of bills, with no hope in hell of getting passed into law.
Fourth, a general election is looming, and by law, after a general election is held, another state opening is required, so we could have another state opening in a month or so.
So tomorrow's State Opening of Parliament has to be one of the most significant state openings in our history.

State Opening of Parliament has been on the BBC since its first televised back in 1958, in the same way Trooping the Colour and Remembrance Sunday are always aired on BBC One - tradition.
Is there a reason the State Opening of Parliament is on BBC One or is it just tradition?

Weekend they run it slightly different because the Ten is shorter, Sportoday is normally 10:20-10:30, rather than 10:30-10:40 on weekdays

The pictures from inside the Lords looked far better than the ones in the Commons chamber.
I think we had a discussion previously about what was HD and what wasn't in the palace and it seems to be beyond doubt now that the Commons still has SD cameras and presumably (unless the BBC were using their own cameras?) the ones in the Lords are HD?

Wow, the jump from HD cameras outside the chamber to the SD cameras inside the chamber is very noticeable!
