B already has Shotoku heads. Could get some SmartPeds I guess, but you'd still need a jib operator and someone doing the robotic peds.

Jibs don’t seem to be used on the BBC World program in studio B. And the robotics could be controlled in Mosart like the Furios with manual intervention as needed.

It's one thing to have robotic cameras on tracks controlled by automation, it's another to have robotic pedestals controlled by automation. A certain satellite broadcaster tried it and had to bring back operators due to safety concerns and the fact that the cameras really weren't reliable enough to accurately go to stored positions.

Just a suggestion. Speaking with a few people at stations that use CamBots they say they’re very reliable, have had no issues and work friendly with automation enough so they don’t need an operator.

Eh. I've not used them much, but I found the CamBots weren't as well made as the Shotoku (or even the old Radamec) robotic pedestals. It would also be even more capex as you'd also have to replace the existing Shotoku heads and control infrastructure with Ross heads and control infrastructure. But absolutely, it's a possibility.

They’ve not stopped using that studio simply because of a lack of robotic cameras, anyway.

One picture is before the summer break. And after picture is after the summer break where the background has been changed since the Marr show returned today. In studio E the red and white blocks above and below the London scenery is actually fake in that studio.

Is it the same in C or are the studios slightly different sizes and this has been done in E to make the image appear the same on screen?

Marr has never come from Studio C. It only previously came from B since the move to NBH.

In Studio E, I believe the area to the right of the desk is a 'back projection screen', but normally portrays images to make it look similar to the real screens on the left hand side. Sometimes it's even slightly blurred to give the impression of distance.

For Marr today, they just made the whole image appear the same as the sofa area background would have been in Studio B.

Sorry I was referring to whether there was a physical size difference between C and E which meant the screens were used slightly differently on that side.

I didn't mean for my comment to relate directly to Marr.

Is this background exclusive just for this particular slot or will it be used all the time?

The background used today is a nighttime variation of the London background previously used in Beyond 100 Days in NBH. I suspect we will just see that new background in this time slot where it’s a nice complement to the D.C. background.
