BBC News (UK) presentation - Reith launch onwards

<internal thought> Sod 'em! The BBC should be providing a proper service for the UK first and foremost. If they want to have a 14:9/4:3 friendly service for other countries, create a separate feed with separate graphics!

<external comment> Ah well, we'll just have to live with 4:3 graphics from the BBC until the rest of the world modernises.

BBC Global News makes money for the BBC, whereas BBC News only spends it. It would be foolish to do anything which adds extra cost to an operation with fairly slim profit margins already.

I like the twitter handles & hashtags flipping where the programme name is. Noticed twitter handles were not included with presenter names on Monday.

Yes, makes that element seem slightly less pointless and a fairly subtle but effective way to get the info on screen.

I know others like it but not personally a huge fan of the "BBC News Breaking" strap - just seems like they've got the words wrong way round. I get though why they don't want to use "BBC News Breaking News", but surely News Alert, News Flash and News Report could be used - although of those I'd say the first is associated with Sky, the second with ITN and only the third with the BBC, and I guess everything on the News Channel is a News Report. Well, outside the hours of 10-11am at least.

Outside Source still seems to be a bit of a mix of Reith and the old font?

Names seem to be being captioned in capitals on tonight's Ten.
